Quote:People can try to sugar coat this all they want. Two things:

Bortles isnt sniffing 26 tds, so the positives arent offsetting the negative at all.

The rules favor the passing game a lot more now than back then.
Peyton had Marvin Harrison and marhall faulk.  2 soon to be HOF's on their roster.  Bortles has got a bunch of nobody's

Throught the same point as Bortles Peyton had 6 TDs and 14 INTs. He came one strong later in the year.

To be fair, who knows what the future holds. ARob or Lee or Shoelace could develop into HOF players, not saying the will and the chances (as with almost every player) are in 20 years when looking back somebody could be saying "Bortles had the Robinson's, 2 soon to be HoF's" Tongue

Not after 5 starts he hadn't. So far Bortles is throwing TDs at a higher rate than Manning.

Peyton played all 4 years at UT as well, right?  So Blake is essentially a year behind where Peyton was at the same point in his development.  The scouting report on Blake was that he was raw with a ton of upside.  That's why he was drafted where he was.  It's also why he's having a roller coaster rookie season.  It's tough to accept patience when the Jags have been down as long as they have but I think it will take the balance of this season and the offseason as "the guy" before he we see what he's going to become.

In 1998 through the 1st 6 games, Manning threw 6 TDs, and 14 INTs.

BB is 6/12 TDs to INTs respectively with more yards in 5.5 games than Manning had in 6 games.

Not a perfect comparison but pretty close...bottom line...let's see what the kid does the rest of the season.

Sanders got an opportunity to play for the super bowl favorites. He wasn't signing here.

I'm still in mourning, so I haven't read any of the thread yet, but I will. I love BB and support him 100%, but I hope this one turns out to be the worst game of his career. I am just going to forget about it completely. I will remember the D though!!

Why would we throw a bunch of money at a player like Sanders? He's played like a journeyman his entire career up until he hooked up with Manning.

Peyton threw 28 INT's in 16 games, 1.75 per game. Blake has thrown 12 in 6 games, 2 per game.

Blake is on track to tie mannings record with 2 fewer games. I knew the kid had it in him, already breaking Peytons(GOAT) records in his rookie year!!!

Manning threw 14 ints in his first 6 games. That's 2.33 ints per game.

Bortles really needs to step up his INT game then if he ever wants to be considered a great QB.

Yup. Manning got off to a much quicker start.

Bortles has some catching up to do.

Hey!  Shoelace is somebody!  AR15 appears to be somebody!

But your point is well said.  Let's see how BB5 does this week.
