Quote:It's also why libertarian usually seems to be code for, "I always vote republican, but I want to pretend I'm somehow principled differently from normal republicans." It's an easy shield to hold up because it can be twisted to mean so many things and be so many positions.

Most Libertarians vote Libertarian.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

So is your argument that only people who vote for the libertarian party can be "libertarian" or is your argument that people who hold libertarian views aren't libertarian?

"Most voters who hold libertarian views don’t vote for the Libertarian Party."

That's because the amount of Libertarian candidates is externally small. For example I was able to vote for a Libertarian candidate in two races this year, the Governor and Attorney General other then that you had to pick Republican or Democrat (not counting write in votes).

That doesn't change the veracity of my original statement.

Exactly. If the candidates aren't there you can't very well vote for them. I had one Libertarian I could vote for this election. Everyone else was Dem or Rep. Are we supposed to not vote for anyone if there's no Lib in that spot to vote for?

I know some hardcore Libs who feel that way but I can't not vote just because there isn't a Lib candidate. From there I just vote for who I hope is the best candidate.

If you're voting libertarian in the one race it's available in and then voting republican down the rest of the ticket then you're doing exactly what I said libertarians do. Call themselves libertarian when they're really just voting republican all the time.

Except I don't think that's what she said...

She didn't actually say anything, she tried to equivocate a lack of libertarian candidates with some kind of excuse for people voting down the line republican.

People have the right to vote for the candidates they want to vote for, but the argument that there aren't enough libertarians to vote for doesn't make my prior statement incorrect.

Most libertarians I've known really just vote republican all the time.

Do you have anything at all to back that up? A link with actual facts? If you've already done so and I've missed it then my apologies.

Wait, you want me to back up my anecdotal experience with a link?
