By far Miller has been our best player on the dline and one of our best defenders this year. Miller with another big game last night. There is a reason Tampa had the number 1 defense vs the run when he was there and their run D fell off when he came here. Film Room Friday with some good plays by Big Roy. One of the best NT in the league IMO

He's playing at an elite level right now and that's not hyperbole. He's been virtually unblockable the last few weeks and has also done a solid job pass rushing.

Huh?

He's not exactly Parnell McPhee.

Huh? So he's not a 3-4 OLB? How is that relevant here?

How has he been great at pass rushing or proving to be unblockable? That describes a guy like McPhee, but not Miller. I realize McPhee isn't a NT, but come on. I see Roy doing ok at clogging up the middle, although I have seen guys just move him out of the way at times. He's not bad, but at the same time it's not like the team wouldn't be able to upgrade his position this offseason.

First of all you're comparing to completely different positions. If you don't recognize how well Miller is playing then you simply don't know what you're watching. Watch the last three weeks again, he's playing incredibly well. As for his pass rushing, I mentioned it because he's doing a good job at creating pressure from the NT position which is rare.

McPhee is unblockable? Lol.

There is no rookie that will be able to come in and out play Roy, sorry. He does his job as good as any NT in the league. McPhee is no Justin Houston

I wasn't exactly thinking rookie although A'Shawn Robinson could certainly develop to an even better player. I was thinking about  BJ Raji or Damon Harrison in free agency.

I dont think neither of those players would be an upgrade to Roy.  Dont get the logic of trying to replace the best player on the dline and the main reason we are number 1 in defensive rushing ypc.  The guy eats up double teams almost every play and the main reason Telvin and Poz can fly around and get to the ball carrier without another online man getting to the 2nd level.  You must be watching different games than me.

You criticize him for not being a great pass rusher, then throw out two guys who have a combined 1 sack (.5 each) to potentially replace him.  Miller, BTW, has 2 sacks on the season.  I realize sacks aren't perfect in signifying a player's pass rushing ability, but it's certainly a decent enough indicator.

Quote:This guy healthy is a big part of why our run D has looked much better lately. His last year in Tampa they were number 1 against the run. Red Bryant has also made a huge impact in our run D but a healthy Miller has played just as big a part and hopefully we can get him resigned before season end
Dont forget Cyprien & of course Telvin Smith (whom is not only great against Pass Defense but is a huge reason that the Jaguars are great against the RUN)!
