Colvin's Debut...

Quote:You can't simulate putting yourself in uncontrolled situations. No rehab is going to prepare the player for that first unexpected hit or slip or twist that tells the player that his knee can take an unexpected challenge and actually hold up. Rehab will never put you that far out of your comfort zone. Those things you will have to experience on your own.First off w/respect to you'r surgery/rehad. Was it comparable to the NFL standards of 24/7? Unless you're an professional athlete, you won't get this type of rehab. Not even close... You can't simulate anything in practices that comes close to actual playing time. I give you this little tidbit... What does Adrien Peterson, Rod Woodson and Thomas Davis have in common? Just to name a few... He's put in the time w/respect to rehad and conditioning. If he wasn't ready, he wouldn't have been actived to the 53... NH3...

So depending on what the team does with Gratz for this past weekend, looks like Colvin may end up starting on the outside in his debut. At least that's what they were talking about on the radio earlier yesterday.

On today's conference call w/Bradley, he mentioned that Colvin was an target within the 2014 draft from day one in the fourth round. The pundits had Colvin as the best DB prior to his injury... He's still a rookie though. I don't expect him to come in and be Revis, and I do think people should temper their expectations. He has a chance to be good if he can show that he is what he was before he got hurt (which is a stretch, none normally are after an ACL).
Quote:what "pundits"? Uh, all of them? Colvin was very, very good in college. Watch some film, you can find it on YouTube pretty easily. He stands out as Oklahoma's best defensive player on all the footage I watched.
Quote:Uh, all of them? Uh... not sure if I'm understanding it or not, but is the claim that Colvin was the highest rated CB in the entire draft? I know he was highly rated, but guys like Dennard and Fuller were rated above him in pretty much all the websites I've looked even well before his ACL tear.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Caldwell made this statement w/o naming names. I'm simply going off of what Caldwell stated. I'm sure that he knows what he's talking about more an any of us MB posters... I did get the feeling that he may have been referring to scouts and GMs though. Regardless, he's ours... NH3...

Not even close...I was done both times by Heekin orthopedic who have done a lot of pro athletes. There is a lot more to it than just physical healing. You have to completely regain all the flexibility in the joint that has suffered from atrophy and scar tissue growth from being kept immobile for 6-12 weeks. Just moving it is painful and extremely limited in range for months. Then their is rebuilding the strength in the joint which can literally take months before it can support your own body weight much less regain the strength of a professional athlete. Then their is the psychological aspect of dealing with a painful and traumatic injury and the natural tendency to be avoident of situations similar to those of the injury. Quote:I was done both times by Heekin orthopedic who have done a lot of pro athletes. This I Understand. I was cared for by the Jax Orthepedic Institute, (The Official Orthepedic care givers of the Jaguars). As a matter of fact, my doctor is the Senior Orthepedic Specialist to which the Jaguars are cared for... The Difference is the Rehab. I definately didn't have the post rehab treatment that Pro Players do... So, you see that even though any of our Orthopedic Specialist's operational procedures, it's the 24/7 Rehab that truly matters... NH3...
