Probably the same reason he pumped the brakes in Philly before the half.

THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.

 

RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

- We need to look in free agency for another DB. It's that bad. It's bad enough that any washed up veteran might be better than who we have now. This team might have one of the worst secondaries I've ever seen to add along with what is one of the least talented rosters in NFL history.

 

- Bortles is the real deal. This is a guy who will throw for 5 TDs in one game at least one time before he retires. Rookie QBs, no matter how good they are, will always throw interceptions and Bortles is no exception

 

- Denard Robinson needs to start. Bortles' flexibility makes it easy for him to find holes and he's a homerun hitter.

 

- Allen Hurns is great, but he needs to work on being ready for the ball when it comes to him.

 

- It makes no sense for quarterbacks to be walking out of games with nearly perfect QB ratings every week like they are. Caldwell dropped the ball on defense.

Id have to go back and check to be sure but I think Hurns' problem is that when he is wide open and the ball is coming like a punt he lets it hit his body, whereas when it comes on a normal route he uses his hands. Just use your hands all the time.

This defense is historically bad.  I really don't know how else to say it. young players making mistakes is one thing, but this is getting silly.  Every week we have recievers running wide open into the end zone.  Twice today eddie royal was isolated on geno hayes and Winston guy respectively for touchdowns.  That's not lapses in concentration, it's schematical.  I don't think that we shift over far enough when you have three or four recievers to one side.  We don't have the kids and the plan isn't working all that well to match up in zone coverage. 

 

To be fair, this team doesn't have the free safety that it wants for the long term.  We don't have an every down's pass rusher.  We don't have a starting corner that you can role coverage away from and you don't have a linebacker that can cover a TE.  It's amazing, Jonathan Cyprien actually did a TERRIFIC JOB on Antonio Gates pretty much all day, the defense shut down the running game and dared Rivers to beat them with everyone else, and he had nearly a perfect passer rating.  I don't know what the answer is, but what I do know is that Gus Bradley doesn't either.
