Speaking of this character, who in my mind is one of the two most annoying, obnoxious and hateful characters in cinematic history who nearly singlularly  ruined the entire franchise, I just saw a video which, if true, represents an even deeper disturbance in the force than the destruction of Alderaan, and would undermine the entire story.  

 

In fact, I can't un-think this theory having seen this video.  When I first saw it, in my mind, I channeled Luke Skywalker upon learning Vader was his father:  "That's not true.  That's IMPOSSIBLE!"

That is a sickening thought.

 

The prequels made me lose all kinds of respect for the Jedi.  Because of the prequels, I believe the Jedi were inept, ultimately to blame for everything bad that transpired up until Return of the Jedi, and I found their practices to be fraudulent and wholly unnecessary.

 

However, through it all, the Sith maintained their dignity.  My view of them throughout all of this remained unsullied.

 

But if the Sith allowed a goofy jackass like Jar Jar Binks among their ranks...I can't take them seriously any longer, either.

I've seen them they are pretty funny. 

 

In the same vein there is a guy that did a video on each prequel titled "what if star wars episode 1 was good" and then one for ep 2 and 3. He rewrites all three and it's pretty compelling. You'd probably like it.

The thing about the prequels is that they ruin the story of the originals. You protect the originals as much as possible and watch the prequels to flesh out the story. For example (spoiler)--Darth Vader being Luke's father is one of the biggest reveals of all-time, the prequels let you know before in its wrap up who Vader's son and daughter is, the prequels ruin the mysticism of the Force by over sciencing it, and the prequels are just not good movies... wooden dialogue, unimaginative story teller, and lacking a story arch of a main character.


The order I'd view it in for a first timer:

1. A New Hope

2. Empire Strikes Back

3. Return of the Jedi

4. Force Awakens
