Maybe 2 TE in FA and Draft.

Quote:I wonder how much of this is because of the Graham franchise tag decision.

What does Jimmy Graham's franchise tag have to do with a college player converting to wide receiver? My understanding is Graham still plays tight end.

Quote:Lewis unless he gets hurt is going to be tough to replace. The Jags use him so much as a blocker. Kids now are not wanting to block but want to be the next Graham and who can blame them. I do agree though we need to address the TE position next year. Maybe a blocking TE and a Pass Catching TE. That's right 2 picks. Hard to get them both out of one person these days

If we do that, will we still have enough picks left to fix the offensive line? I would rather pick two offensive linemen and one tight end.

Too bad we only have 3 draft picks this year.

C;mon, man, you know better than that. We also need draft picks for both safety positions, a linebacker, and a fullback.

SS is in good hands with Cyprien. We only need spend a pick on a FS. (not both safety positions)

Depth behind Cyprien at SS can be found through mid tier free agency or waiver wire.

Guy is good depth at FS.

Anyway….. I could see them spending a second or third round pick on a TE in 2015.

We have a better chance of getting a better backup SS through the draft because there is no guarantee any team will cut one next year.

If our pick in the 10-15 range, do you really want to wait until the third round to pick a TE?

I'm not sure if there is a TE in this draft worthy of that draft position in the first. Maybe.  Maybe not.

I still think free agency is a fine place to find a back-up safety.  Even the waiver wire works for that. Look at Winston Guy. He's a starter right now because we don't have a top tier FS  - but he'd make a fine back-up and he was a waiver wire acquisition last year.

This is why I used to ignore all in-season draft scouting threads. How do you know if any tight ends are likely to fall into the middle of the first or second round after only 2 games? How do you know after only one game if we are likely to pick in the top 15?

You can evaluate talent in the NCAA as long as they are playing football, regardless of where they are in the season. Granted, it's going to be incomplete but you can still evaluate. Grading talent is a lot different than trying to figure out where your team will draft.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!
