A trade too far ?

I feel like we won't trade for anyone. If anything, we will trade someone away. I don't see the front office looking at this as the year for contention. It kills me to say that, but it's strictly my opinion. They are forcing Bortles to the bench.. he will probably start by mid-season but I feel like they believe they need one more good year of FA and draft and they will have turned the franchise around.
I dont think I would ever be fully on board if we traded away a first or second round pick, now or in the future because they are our future.
A 3rd round pick is still pushing it as well but it would depend on who the player is, I have always liked the idea of stock piling picks and being able to either select more players in the draft or do what we did this year and move around in the draft itself. At this point in time I don't really think we have any players we can give up for picks either. But who knows? I didnt expect us to get anything from Gabbert. It would have to be something extraordinary that would sway me to consider trading away a 3rd rounder. There's nothing that would convince me it's a good idea to trade away a first or second round pick. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
I think we should trade our 2nd round pick next year for 2 players. One of the players should know about football. The other player should know, too. I think it's a good deal.

The Bucs gave up just a 4th and a back-up TE for Mankins? That's not a bad deal really for both parties. Mankins was a big cap hit against the Pats though, I heard he was just North of $10M. But he's been a solid player on that line for many years. Belicheck had nothing but good things to say about him from what I heard on 1010XL this morning. Either way, we can use the help in the interior right now. It's going to be brutal between whoever three guys start inside.

Tim Wright's a backup TE on the Bucs, but with the Pats, he's a leading contender for the Hernandez role--hardly a small deal. Physically, the two are very similar.
Of course Belichick had nothing but good things to say about Mankins. He doesn't trade people away without knowing something that the other team doesn't. The last thing he's going to do is come out and say, "Ha ha, suckers," and he may actually have that level of respect for Mankins without the apologetic love letter. I still would argue that a fourth-round pick for a 32-year-old guard, especially one coming from New England where Belichick pushes the buttons, is a questionable deal. |
