local police not "warriors"

DHS ordered 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition.  Read somewhere that U.S. troops in Iraq expended roughly 6 million rounds per month, which means that 1.6 billion could theoretically sustain a shooting war for 22 years...

The National Weather Service needs ammo? NASA? Really?

Stock up folks, hope this mess blows over...plan for it not to.

Yeah, you should be far more concerned about the militarization of government agencies like the IRS or DHS than local police.  Government agencies that really have no business stockpiling weapons and ammunition are doing exactly that.  What are they preparing for?

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Whatever any plan is who do you think would carry it out? It would be a militarized police force just as it always has been through out history.

There are several states that have taken up secession discussions recently.  Whether any of them will take it beyond the discussion state seems highly unlikely unless things really turn bad.

<div>-MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicles (cost roughly 700k each we gave away 13,000)
-Lenco BearCat (Armored personal carrier designed for evacuations)
-Grenade Launchers (Massachusetts)
-LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Device)
-M113 (Armored Personal Carrier equipped with 1 to 2 machine guns ranging from 20mm to 5.56 and 7.62 rounds)
-GTX Boxer (Another Armored Personal Carrier)
-Peacemaker (amphibious machine gun mounted tank in Cobb County Georgia.)
-Body Armor
-M16 Fully Automatic Rifles (not your standard semi-auto fully automatic military grade M16)
-Helicopters
-Humvee's
-Stingray (Milwaukee Police) suit case sized device that acts as a mobile cell tower hacking any cells within range
-Surveillance Drones

</div>

All models of armored police vehicles have been used in efforts to save kidnapped hostages both on larger scales and smaller ones (homes). I know for a fact that the Peacemaker alone has saved several lives. Most of your examples are just different armored vehicles.

Helicopters have assisted in the capture of murderers, rapists, and the worst this world has to offer.

Now police shouldn't have body armor? The public has access to weapons that would obliterate traditional vests. You have access to that equipment too. I'm interested in seeing the logic behind this one.

As for the last two, I know the tower serves a very practical purpose, but I'm inclined to reject the idea of their uses.

There's an article in the T-U today about military equipment in the JSO. This subject must be on a lot of people's minds.

Yeah, here's the full list by county.

Looks like most of what Duval got was medical supplies and such. Saw some cold weather gear, guns, knives (including Bayonets!), and eotech sights or the like.

Of course, regardless of someones political leanings it should be alarming. Especially when you factor in the 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition, the NSA revelations, the IRS abuse scandal, the open borders and the economic uncertainty it's a dangerous mixture.
