Sean Lee knee

#21

I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be the end of Lee's NFL career. Unlike so many other players, he at least had the injury insurance that his new(er) contract afforded him. Though I am sure he would have rather been able to earn it all on the field.

It is always sad to see players go down in practice, and even worse having it happen before the season is in swing. I feel bad for the guy.

Awful, such bad luck he's had.  Such a terrific player when he's on the field.

I didn't remember there were injury red flags on him when he came out, but apparently there were.  We were very high on him though we weren't really in position to draft him where he came off the board having no second round pick.

Had he been a Jaguar, it is possible the outcome would have been completely different. May very well be nothing more than wrong place, wrong time for Lee, and any other player for that matter. Like an asteroid falling onto your head, one step ahead, one step behind. A practice field turf could have been slick at Jaguars OTA's, while the Cowboys field could be more on the sticky side for that day.

Sometimes it is nothing more than luck, other times it may be frail structure, or poor technique.

I caught this article from Gosselin's tweet:

If it weren't for bad luck, it seems he wouldn't have any luck at all.

For those interested, I found the Poz comments appropriate for this thread, too.

Good article.

I think there was risk in drafting him, but that is minimal.

The real risk was in giving him a huge deal, which they did foolishly. That is really what they are paying for, and will continue to pay for. But that is par for the course for Jerry. The team is a salary cap disaster. And nothing short of hitting the reset button and bliowing it up, will fix it.

Poz is making a base plus workout bonus this year (and next) of $7.5m.  His salary would be tough for the Cowboys to take on.

I remember hearing that Gene Smith was real, real close to drafting this guy. I wonder if he would have had the same injury problems had he ended up playing here. I'm happy with Poz though.

LEONARD FOURNETTE FAN CLUB PRESIDENT. I WAS BEHIND HIM WHEN YOU ALL SAID HE WAS BRANDON JACOBS. QUIT HATING ON THE JAGUARS. GUS IS GONE. COUGHLIN HAS RESTORED ORDER. FOURNETTE IS FRED TAYLOR. DONT BELIEVE ME JUST WATCH.

I think it was Vic Ketchman throwing that rumor around.

They wanted to but we were without a 2nd round pick that year. They tried to move up in the draft by trading John Henderson.

It didn't work.
