***2014 Final First Round Mock/Jag Picks
|
Feel free to post yours here also...
Alternate Scenarios: Tampa does take Manziel at #3, and we get Bortles after Cleveland takes Watkins at #4. If Jags stay put, we take either Watkins or Mack, but then are left with Garoppolo in the 2nd /3rd or McCarron, neither of which will be the QB or the charasmatic star that Manziel will be. Rnd 1 - QB Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M (see above) Rnd 2 - WR Allen Robinson, Penn St (A big, playmaking target for Manziel here is a must) Rnd 2 - DE/LEO Kony Ealy, Missouri (some how fell to us in my mock) Rnd 3 - LB Christian Jones, FSU (can play inside or out with Russell Allen retired) Rnd 4 - TE Arthur Lynch, Georgia (Another target for Manziel and good blocker) Rnd 4 - CB/S Antone Exum, Virginia Tech (can play both CB or FS, special teams ace) Rnd 5 - OG Charles Leno, Boise St (Need depth/starters for interior line) Rnd 5 - C Gabe Ikard, Oklahoma (Center could be addressed earlier if the fit is there) Rnd 5 - RB Storm Johnson, UCF (We a real RB behind Gerhart and Todman) Rnd 6 -WR Jeff Janis, Saginaw Valley St (More speed and size for Manziel to target) Rnd 6 - ILB Avery Williamson, Kentucky (underrated tackling machine for more LB depth) Rnd 7 - QB Brett Smith, Wyoming (might not take another QB if one taken in the 1st) We show less advertisements to registered users. Can't wait to hear Manziel's named called for the Jaguars. Generate a lot of excite and hope, finally. Playoffs, then SuperBowl.
3) WR Sammy Watkins, Clemson
39) QB Jimmy Garropolo, Eastern Illinois 70) CB Pierre Desir, Lindenwood 105) OG Trai Turner, LSU 114) WR Shaq Evans, UCLA 150) FS Ed Reynolds, Stanford 159) RB James White, Wisconsin 179) OG Brandon Thomas, Clemson 205) QB David Fales, San Jose State 222) CB Aaron Colvin, Oklahoma
Quote:Feel free to post yours here also... I like it overall, i don't like K Ealy though, I don't think he has the athleticism or burst to play the LEO, might be better suites as a 3 technique because of it. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I like what we ended up with in 2014. WR Allen Robinson was a guy I had us taking at #39, and I never would have imagined we could get him AND Marquise Lee at WR. But I can't help wondering what we might have ended up with if we did not trade away some of our picks.
Would anybody trade what we got for this if we stayed put? 1. QB B. Bortles (3) 2. WR M. Lee (39) 3. C M. Martin (70) 4. WR M. Bryant (105) 4. RB K. Carey (114) 5. OG D. Yankey (144) 5. TE A. Lynch (150) 5. DE C. Smith (159) 6. CB A. Exum (179) 6. DT D. McCullers (205) 7. OLB Y. Smallwood (222) Another thing we could have done was keep the #70 pick, then trade a 4th and a 6th back up into the bottom of the 3rd for Donte Moncrief... <p style="margin-left:0px;">1. QB B. Bortles (3) <p style="margin-left:0px;">2. WR M. Lee (39) <p style="margin-left:0px;">3. C M. Martin (70) <p style="margin-left:0px;">3. WR D. Moncrief <p style="margin-left:0px;">4. CB A. Colvin <p style="margin-left:0px;">5. OG D. Yankey <p style="margin-left:0px;">5. TE A. Lynch <p style="margin-left:0px;">5. DE/OLB C. Smith <p style="margin-left:0px;">6. No, I like the real draft better.
That second one is very intriguing though. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:No, I like the real draft better.Yeah, the Center problem would be solved, we would have Bortles, Lee and Moncrief, plus still have Storm in the 7th and Chris Smith in the 5th. I take this draft over what we did ...on paper anyways. Quote:Yeah, the Center problem would be solved, we would have Bortles, Lee and Moncrief, plus still have Storm in the 7th and Chris Smith in the 5th. I'd still rather have Telvin Smith.

I don't know. I like Allen Robinson, and wanted the Jags to draft him in the 2nd, but I might rather have Center Marcus Martin AND WR Donte Moncrief over him. Just saying.....
