Great drive...hope develops..."Hey...something is clicking...we can do this!"

Then...3 and outs until garbage time.

If it's Henne or someone worse...I pick Henne.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

lol, heck no!!!!!!!!

I was just stating the fact that there are worse QB's out there then CH.

I feel safe in saying that I'm sure everyone in here wants an upgrade at QB, a significant upgrade.

Unfortunately that's not going to happen this year, unless the Jags get lucky in the draft, which is all we fans can hope for.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

We accept him as our quarterback if they trot him out opening day. That's how it works, you cheer for the guys on the team you want to win.

In this case almost everyone hopes there's a better option by then.

You must not follow any of the other professional franchises in this state then. The Josh Freeman Saga, The Case of Little Johnny's Hurt Feelings, The Hubris of the Heat, and The Empty Marlins' Seats are more nauseating IMO.

Much longer than that, even. He was in Miami before he was in Jacksonville. I'm sure the rest of the nation is thankful we've kept him bottled up in FL.

I willing to accept the "we know who Henne is" for another year while transitioning to Rookie round 1 QB pick.

or while we develop rookie round 2/3 pick.

If by some unimaginable scenario the Jaguars do not select a QB in this draft I would be perturbed. And would then be hoping for a "going all out" for grabbing the absolute best QB from next years draft, whom must be viewed as a day one starter.

Hundley or Winston? I'm not sure those guys are going to be that sure fire day one starter...

I can be patient with Caldwell's approach. And I'm one who understands why you don't go get Vick to replace Henne. Or McCown. Or another vet who may or may not be better than Henne. I think everyone knows OUR QB of the future doesn't play in the NFL yet. And I think everyone knows we aren't SB bound this season no matter who is behind center.

I'm OK with Henne for "one more year".

Here's hoping that it won't be long before we can say "We know who Chad Henne is!  He's the Jacksonville Jaguars backup Quarterback, and only plays when the QB is injured, or when we're leading by more than 2 touchdowns in the late 4th Quarter."

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I don't think anyone has any illusions about Henne being anything here but a stop gap.  When we draft a quarterback this time, he should be allowed to develop a year or two before becoming 'the guy'. To do otherwise is to repeat the mistake that really undermined what Blaine Gabbert might have one day become. True, with Henne we will probably be doing well if we finish 8-8, but hey... even that would be an improvement. The thing is, we gotta continue to be patient about rebuilding this team. Holy smokes...Gene Smith really, really hurt this team's roster, and it's gonna take a bit to undo what he did.

On the positive note; we've really made some good free agency acquisitions, the best that have been made here in years I think. If Caldwell can (hopefully) do as well in the draft, I can see much brighter days for this team in the next couple of years. Within a year or two, we might even become legitimate play-off contenders again; something that hasn't been true here in years! At the very least, hopefully Caldwell won't stumble and commit a major gaff (using third round to pick a punter...).

Quote:Actually he played for the Dolphins before the Jags and they let him go so it's been longer then 2 years.

I know it's hard for some fans to believe, but there are worse QB's then Chad Henne currently in the NFL. Some of them even starting.
This is almost like the Garrard debate again. People just couldn't believe it could get worse than him lol. Henne is an okay player. Given a team around him he can do somethings. I feel more comfortable with him at QB than what we've had since David left.

I tend to agree with your observation. Of course, "I feel more comfortable with him at QB than what we've had since David left" isn't actually very high praise since what we've had has been a series of disasters. I think Henne is 'ok'.... but that's the issue; he has never been more than 'ok' most of the time with flashes of excellence. Those flashes of excellence were then tempered by acts of abject incompetence at the worst possible moments. That's why Henne doesn't get paid the kind of money that a star does. He's just someone not too awful to play the position until a young 'star' has had time to adjust to the NFL. Hopefully, we can get that 'young star' this draft....
