James Jones

I had forgotten he was on the market. Have not heard much of anything on him. I have always thought he was an underrated deep threat. Would not be a bad addition to this team. Considering their interest in Sanders, they obviously are looking to upgrade the position.

To the best of my knowledge, James Jones hasn't had any reported FA visits. However, a number of teams, including the Lions, Jets, Colts, Panthers, and Chargers reportedly had interest in him. The first 3 teams I mentioned already made a significant FA WR addition. Yet, reportedly, the Jets still have interest in him.
Quote:Either he's playing the waiting game or asking for too much. My guess is he's asking for too much. While I think James Jones is an effective # 2 WR, who has greatly improved his catching concentration the last couple of years, I doubt that he gets a contract that's similar or even close to what his former teammate Greg Jennings received from the Vikings last March. Jennings received a 5 year/ $ 45 million contract, with $ 17.8 million fully guaranteed. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I wouldn't call him a deep threat, but he is a solid possession guy who can move the chains. I'm surprised he didn't end up back with the Packers. If he's still floating around post-draft and willing to go on a one-year prove-it deal, he'd be worth the flyer.
They have to sign a receiver at some point. Probably just letting the market thin out.

I think he will end up in Carolina, but it would be nice if the Jags could sign him. We are going to need a starter at WR either in FA or early in the draft.
