Let's have some fun and do some light hearted cross sport scouting! 

 

Teddy Bridgewater - Cliff Lee - Not overpowering and often times forgotten as a great pitcher, but consistency, excellent command, underrated physical tools, and limiting mistakes makes him an ace to build your staff around. 

Johnny Manziel - Matt Garza - Flashy, emotional, fiery, and often times downright unhittable. Greatest strength (competitiveness and emotions) is often greatest weakness at the same time. Never a boring outing, one way or another. 

Blake Bortles - Jered Weaver - Very large, imposing presence on the mound. Former fireballer (and CY Young runner up) is now simply a solid #2 or #3 pitcher on a staff due to major velocity loss. 

Derek Carr - Brandon Morrow - Always a fantasy baseball kryptonite. Upside and through the roof strikeouts inflate perception a bit more than reality. Every time it looks like the total package coming together there is a setback of some sort. 

Zach Mettenberger - Ubaldo Jiminez - Another big, imposing presence. It might be a strike or it might be three feet outside, but either way it's coming at you very hard. At times looks the part of franchise building block, other times he's struggling to get a mid level contract. 

AJ McCarron - Wade Miley - Lulls you into thinking he is the next up and coming thing, but as soon as you invest he falls apart. Average tools all around leads to an average pitcher that was thought as too much for too long.

Aaron Murray - Shaun Marcum - Very solid as long as you don't overstep your evaluation. Comps to Maddux lite (or Murray to Brees) always ruined the perception of what was a very good mid rotation starter for many years. 

Jimmy Garoppolo - Patrick Corbin - Comes out of relative obscurity to look very impressive in the short term on the strength of one plus tool, but once the book is out the luster starts coming off. Will have to readjust to survive.

David Fales - Bronson Arroyo - Workhorse, long term innings eater. Never going to carry a pitching staff but as long as his strengths are played to and the mistakes limited the result will be a very long, productive career. 

Logan Thomas - Scott Kazmir - Oh those tools. If Kazmir could have put it all together right away we'd be talking about a perennial Cy Young candidate. Career somewhat resurrected after reinventing himself in an independent league. 

Tajh Boyd - Ricky Nolasco - The stats said he could've/should've been really good for a long time. The scouts knew better however. Occasional dominance not nearly enough to overcome a lack of consistency and mechanics.

I pretty much agree with all of your comparisons. Though for Manziel I would compare him to Yu Darvish (at least a younger Yu) who was known in Japan for his off field exploits just as much as his on field ones.
