USA Today Article about Jags' Defense

Quote:The problem is you can't make a proper assessment of play calling when your QB can't execute half the plays.

Guys that play like Gabbert and like Bortles this season, ham string your play calls because you can't trust them to make the difficult creative plays without disaster. They also are constantly putting you in difficult down and distance situations due to bumbling plays and allow for the defense to concentrate on defending the other aspects of the offense because they don't fear the QB play.

The greatest OC of all time would look like garbage with a QB playing like Blake because he will have to call plays from the stand point of constantly being behind the 8 ball.

The bottom line is that until Blake gets his act together or gets replaced, no OC is going to be able to come in and fix this offense.

Again, im not saying Olsen could have success with how Blake is. Im daying Olsen and co. Allowed Blake to get to this point due to poor coaching. You get Bruce Arians or some good offensive coach and Blake isnt reverting back to his college mechanics over one offseason.

No, you were complaining about predictable play calling by all the OCs, and when I explained how the bad QBs we have had would significantly impact the plays you can call, you began this strawman about how Olsen doesn't develop QBs.

Whatever dude.

Olsen has been known for predictable playcalling. Why do you think hes let go every couple years? Its not because hes calling great games and is putting out good offensive gameplans. If he was hed hold a job longer.

Like seriously...

On top of that, you said how its not Greg Olsens fault because of his qb play. Well when you are an OC developing your talent and coaching them up is part of it. Lettimg Blake get to this point has to do with all of this.

The fact your defending a [BLEEP] bottom of the barrell OC that doesnt hold a job longer than 3-4 yrs is blatantly hilarious.

What is really hilarious is that you are whining about predictable play calling and you are blaming a coach that hasn't called a play in 6 games

Olsen is gone and we still have the same predictable bad play from our QB.

It doesn't take rocket science to figure this out.

You expect a QB to fix his mechanics midway through a season? Lol. Do you know anything about that or no?

After week 2/3 it was a lost season for this offense. Olsen, Hackett, etc. all let him get to a point of no return until an offseason.

Hackett is a [BAD WORD REMOVED] OC too for that matter.
You really think play calling is going to fix his mechanics?

No. This had nothing to do with Bortles until you brought him up. This season was a lost season as soon as this staff allowed Blakes mechanics to get this bad.

This has nothing to do with Blake. This argument was originally about allowing people to do different things like how ATL moves Julio into different positions and have him be basically a jack of all trades in our offense whereas wr basically do nothing with Arob...

Which was my argument as to why I hope we get an OC like Shanahan that does that. Then you went off on how Olsen couldnt because of Blake when the fact of the matter is even if Blake was like last year we'd be doing the same stuff every game like Olsen always has done...hence why he always gets fired in short stints.

C-Dub has been saying coaches should have worked with Blake Bortles in the offseason to make sure his mechanics don't get bad again. See the previous page.

Top 5 defense though.
