Story here.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/she-...treatment/ I love flying with them, but I hope Delta really take some serious heat for this. Edit- after a quick search it looks like Delta issued a simple apology and that was it.

This angers me, too. The airline industry as a whole needs to have their policies regarding disabled travelers reviewed. If you are wheelchair bound, or otherwise non-ambulatory, traveling by air is a royal pain the rear.

I recall something similar. A blind man who was kicked off of a flight for issues with his service animal. The flight was in hold on the tarmac, but returned to the gate, and the animal and the passenger were forced to deplane. In an ironic twist, the rest of the passengers of the flight became so angered by this treatment, they refused to take the flight without the man and his animal. The flight was subsequently canceled, and caused a bit of a PR nightmare for US Airways.
