*** The Official Reese's Senior Bowl Game Day Thread ***

(This post was last modified: 01-26-2014, 05:48 PM by roycee.)

Aside from 1 drop Bennie Fowler WR from Michigan State did pretty good in the game yesterday considering he got in to Mobile Friday night with no practice. Iirc he ended with 2 or 3 catches on the day. Got open multiple times.

Isn't that the guy that dropped Garropolo's pass that was right in his eggos?

I only saw the first half and didn't see any drops by him.  He was the leading receiver of the entire game and Savage said he didn't drop a single pass in practice.

Its possible I am thinking of someone else.

I just know there was one play to one TE of which Garoppolo threw a high pass, but it had to be high to reach its target to avoid defenders, and it hit the TE right in his 2 eggos and he dropped it. A few people tried to say that that was a bad pass but I didn't see it that way. The way I saw that, an NFL TE is expected to make that catch.

I remember that play. Might have been him.  He was hit while extended and couldn't come down with it in my memory.  Catchable but barely so - I'd say.

Would have to see it again honestly to be certain. But I think "right in his [hands]"  is  an utterly ridiculous way to describe a play in which a receiver is leaping with his arms fully extended - but that's your bag.

If that's his only "drop" - he still had a heck of a day and would still be a bargain in the 4th.

That ball was catchable, but it would have made it a "good to great" catch IMO.

I think Garrapolo did pretty well, but nowhere near good enough to push for the 1st round.

He'd be a perfect player to draft in round 3 or so to develop.

If it would've been Carr however, it would've been a horrible throw. TMD is mad biased like that.

Definitely agree with this statement.

To be fair though, Garrapollo was moving in the pocket when he threw that ball.

Most of the time we just see Carr get the snap, in shotgun formation, and then throw it quickly to one of his open receivers.

Yeah he was rolling left IIRC.

Well, TMD, I'm honored to be mentioned in the same breath as Bullseye and I thank you for that. You know that I am one of your more ardent supporters but...your constant railing against Gus, his assistants, Lewis ("briefcase hands" was funny, though), Caldwell and seemingly all things Jaguars is wearing thin.

Nothing personal.

Quote:Value does matter.

Even if you like something more than anyone else, why pay $200 for it, when you can get it for $50.

but there is no way to truly know what the rest of the league values a pick...and what if there value is wrong?

If we pick a QB at 3 who is "seen" as a late 1st round pick or even a 2nd but he turns into an Elite level QB did we really lose value?

The best thing about the NFL draft is you can't really judge the perceived value of a pick until years later.

Value doesn't matter, If we took Russel Wilson instead of Blackmon at 5 it would have been terrible "value" pre-draft..

Right. But by accurately judging value the Hawks were able to get 2 other impact players in the first 2 rounds in addition to Wilson in the 3rd.

It's one thing identify the potential in a player and to determine where and how he is going to fit into how you do things but it's another thing to be able to develop that player, either to teach him or allow him to develop on his own pace.

Not a lot of players developed in the JDR years. Did they draft poorly or were they not good at player development?
