The 2000 NFL Draft

#1

What an unreal draft that was. I was having a discussion with some friends and I started digging into this draft class. It had several "firsts" involved. The New York Jets were the first team ever to have four First Round Selections, it was the first time that a Kicker was taken in the First, and LaVar Arrington and Courtney Brown were the first Penn State players to be selected at Number One or Two overall.

This was also the year the Tom Brady fell to the Sixth Round, there were four UDFA's who eventually made the Pro Bowl, and on a sad note for us Jacksonville fans, it was the year that Coughlin selected R. Jay Soward.

Just an unreal draft in my mind in terms of improbability and new events.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Every year some weird things happen in the draft. Punter Ray Guy was a first round pick. Kicker Mike Nugent was picked in the second round by a team without a Round 1 pick (the Jets). And this year the Vikings had three first round picks.

But the craziest thing to ever happen in the draft was probably the Eli Manning/Phillip Rivers trade.

4.123- Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila

7.243- Paris Lenon

A few things.

RJ Soward. Ouch. The irony was I remember wanting us to take Jerry Porter.  :yucky:

Looking down the early rounds, it was a flat out awful draft overall especially the back half of the first round.

I am an FSU fan and I barely remember Ron Dugans. I definitely don't remember him being a 3rd rounder. Good god.

The Bills took a Norwegian defensive lineman named
Leif Olve Dolonen Larsen a few picks before Tom Brady.
