DE or LEO prospects at #39

Quote:Shazier as a rush linebacker maybe, but not LEO.

We could use a rush linebacker too. With 10 picks next year, I see no reason we can't draft both a Leo and a regular OLB.

Ryan Shazier is a beast. Any team that needs a linebacker should watch him.

Quote:Is Matthews even the best LT prospect?

Somebody said in a different thread he played RT when TAMU had Luke Joeckel, so he can play on either side of the line.

Yes. But there are some very good ones after him.

I think St. Louis will trade down as of now, but Matthews will be very tempting after Long's injury.

That's because I don't know which side the Rams would put him on.

I'm hearing chatter that Greg Robinson of Auburn might overtake him if he decides to declare and very well may be the better LT prospect come draft time.

If they're looking for an LT trading down is their best move because most likely one of those LT will still be available to them.

Quote:I've only seen Shazier play twice and i was real impressed. he was always around the ball, and a tackling machine. To me it looked like he was a real explosive player. Anyone have some more insight on him that watched more Ohio State games?

You described him perfectly. Twenty tackles (15 solo), multiple tackles for loss, and a sack/forced fumble against Indiana made me think he would still be great against a much better opponent. He is a great tackler too, stopping guys on the spot and bringing them all the way down. I would love to pick him up in Round 2 if he somehow drops to #39.

The Rams probably need more help on the right side because Jake Long will come back from his injury. I can see them starting Matthews on the left, then moving him to the right when Long returns.

Is he the kind of player Gus Bradley wants?
