You can keep Gus Johnson. While he does blow up at the end of games, he also does it throughout. He overshadows the actual game with his outbursts. I like an announcer that adds to the emotion of the moment, not overtakes it completely.

I was thinking about David Garrard celebrating with teammates. Johnson's screaming did not take any of that away.

In my opinion, Gus Johnson overshadows the game by his announcement. There, I said it. Actually, I wrote it but sometimes I talk as I type so I may have said it as well.

Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.

Watching the Cardinals/Jaguars game Sunday, I kept thinking, "Does Ronde Barber know how to use a telestrater?" For a while I wondered if he even had one. Also, one time he used it to draw two parallel lines instead of the route that a player ran. I have seen other rookies doing his job and they use telestraters all the time, not sparingly like Barber did.

 

Another problem was hearing Barber talk - he is the softest analyst I ever heard. Because Dick Stockton and Jeff Triplette talk loud enough, turning up the volume wasn't an option. He better never work at another Jaguars game I don't have a ticket for.
