Jags got the steal of the draft and it's not Fournette

I think we expected a little more from fournette off the bat, and to see Cam playing like a seasoned vet when we didn't even know if he would start is really impressive.

I admit I had concerns about his ability to play LT.

He had held up decently against the best DE prospects in recent years, but there was still the lingering uncertainty in my mind.  I figured at minimum, he could do well at RT, though.

For us to get a quality LT at that point in the draft is a nice surprise.

It's like we hit the draft daily double twice in a row (Ramsey and Jack in '16, with Fournette and Robinson this year).

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

The guy has more than exceeded expectations, and he plays with a little bit of nastiness to boot. The guy is an absolute steal where we got him considering he has all the makings of a long term franchise LT for this team, and we landed him in the 2nd round. Trading up one spot made sense to prevent anyone else from jumping in and grabbing him.

It's interesting that in Coughlin's first draft in 1995, he landed a franchise LT with his first pick. This time around, he doubled down and landed a premiere running back who is showing us what that looks like, AND a starting LT who is looking like the long-term anchor on the QB's blind side. It only took over a decade to find a viable replacement for Boselli, but Tom has now managed to do it twice.

Tom Coughlin reportedly drafted Cam Robinson because Branden Albert held out of voluntary OTAs and minicamps. Then Albert reported to mandatory minicamps to avoid fines, just like many other players do. I was not a happy Jaguars fan when that happened. It is good to see Robinson did not need the starter reps he missed in practice to show in his first year he is the answer at LT.

Who was the RB Tom Coughlin drafted in 1995?

A little more from Fournette off the bat?  He is 2nd in the league in rushing and just had 181 yard 2 TD game in his 5th career game.

And you call yourself a Jags fan?

James "Little Man" Stewart.  He's the last running back we had who could effectively leap over the line in goal line situations.  I thought of him as soon as Fournette took to the air last week.  Thing of beauty.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Yeah....im saying we expected that from him. We as a whole had higher expectations for fournette than we did for cam.

Fournette has met them and cam has exceeded them.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Gotcha, yeah it's good to see the level these guys are playing at so early in their career

In retrospect,  thank God we drafted Yeldon.  The Cowboys were reportedly interested in Yeldon.  If they drafted him they more than likely would have drafted Ramsey.

Although, they have been rotating him in on their base "run stopping" package and he's looked pretty good against the run.
Good nose for the ball carrier.

Still a head scratcher draft pick to me a bit, but he's showing potential.

On topic -- I think Cam was a steal in the second round. He's playing very well and shows signs of leadership as well. Very happy he's a Jag.

I started rooting for the Jaguars in 1997.

Smoot has played good in his little time on the field.  Dave said Smoot was far and away the best player on the board so we took him.  Down the road it could of been the right pick but I didn't like it at thee time either. He has surprised me the way he has played so early.  He gotten some pressure as well. So glad he can learn behind a guy like Campbell

I did not like the pick because it was like, "Another defensive lineman after what we did last year?" when we had a big hole at tight end. But I knew nothing about him and trust Tom Coughlin.

James Stewart was not a bad running back for a short time. I remember him having a 5 td game.
