Buuuwwwaaa!! The players position is soft as cotton balls. Little tiny 6 month old babies butts have thicker skin than some of these guys.

Yeah either way it's speaks to the owners view of them and the players. That's why the players were mad.

How is it re the EPL or other levels of (your) football?

In the NBA and somewhat in MLB the players are partners in the enterprise - both players and owners trying to grow the game, etc. In the NFL it's always been "We're the owners and you'll do what we tell you." No guaranteed contracts, restrictions that do not allow you to reach the market and get fair market value, etc.

Which is why the next contract negotiations could get real ugly unless owners come to their senses. At least the Jaguars seem to have an owner that gets it.

Owner Vs player disputes don't happen in the premier league or football in general. The owners do as they please and the players are paid enormous amounts of money for playing soccer so they don't care what the owner does. 

Hard to compare the NFL to the NBA given the relative importance of an individual player. Only 13 or so on a roster so it makes sense that the owners are more player friendly.  

The NFL could definitely improve the league by taking a softer stance with players and placing more value on good relations with them but until that majorly impacts the bottom line they have no reason to.
