"Dropinson" was from year 2 preseason when he hurt his shoulder getting piledriven into the endzone on a diving attempt. For some reason they kept giving him meaningless preseason snaps while he was obviously hurt and he struggled briefly.

How come the rushing game hasn't improved in 3 years?

 

The passing game was great last year. It's hard to score when you're one dimensional. 

I agree... but you CAN NOT blame Bortles mechanics on anything other than himself.

 

Run game has been bad. Some of it is scheme, some of it is personnel.

 

O-line is pass blocking better than we've seen in years yet Bortles can't sit patiently and make a throw.

That has nothing to do with the run game.

 

I will say this.. our WRs aren't getting separation and Bortles seems reluctant to throw into tight windows, maybe because the team emphasized not turning the ball over when he started winging it to the other team at an alarming rate....

 

But most of the QB problems are his own. And some of it falls on coaching and some of it falls on the WRs.

 

Plenty of QBs overcome bad defenses or awful run games.

When you're the 3rd overall pick in your 3rd season.... you should have your [BLEEP] together to be honest.

 

 

I still think BB5 can turn it around and show us more of what we saw last year. 

But you should stop humping his leg. He hasn't earned such adoration.

To be real... Chiefs were WAY better than that record. And the Jags truly earned theirs.

 

Chiefs had like 10 pro bowlers on that team and a crappy coaching staff. And no QB at all (Was that Cassel?)


Then Andy Reid came to town, got a QB, team got healthy.

 

Whereas we had like 1 pro bowler, and we probably cut him and replaced him with a rookie.

No QB (still don't?)

etc. etc.

I think the vast majority here have been calling for the whole coaching staff to be fired for weeks now.  Of that vast majority it would seem well more than half of them still think Bortles has a chance and that coaching is a contributing reason for his current downturn. 

 

You need to ease up on these blanket statements.  You are either really bad at gauging the opinions of the regular posters on this forum,  or you are displaying a willful ignorance of their desires for this football team and it's current quarterback.

There are about "5" posters on here strongly against Bortles. And I'd venture to say that most of them hated the pick in the first place.

And of those "5", 4 of them want Caldwell gone.

 

Now the majority of the board are saying that Bortles is playing poorly (he is), and his mechanics have regressed (they have), and the majority of fans want to see the team address it (new back up, additional QB for competition, etc)

Also... most of us, I'd assume, would prefer for Bortles to be "the man" and a new coach staff to turn him around.

 

("5" is my random guess it may be a few more but definitely not a majority)

So we were good in yards per carry, but we couldn't sustain drives long enough to turn a good per carry average into a good per game average. Gotcha. 

 

What could possibly be the reason that we were unable to sustain drives despite a perfectly workable yards per carry average? Even for you this would appear to be an easy answer.

This has absolutely zero to do with me wondering why the Jags were incapable of sustaining drives last year despite being good in yards per carry. I really thought you might have a good answer for it, seeing that it is painfully obvious, but I guess not.

 

Jags were good last year in sustaining drives. They were #14 in scoring offense. 

 

2015- JAGS #14 in scoring offense- #16 in rushing yards per carry

2016- JAGS- #24 in scoring offense- #26 in rushing yards per carry

Blake's throws on third down this year are failing more often because he has regressed AND because the running game is even worse than it was when it should be better - putting him in less manageable third down situations.

Also a bad habit of passing on first and with an incompletion a run on 2nd which nets 2 yards. If you pass first, you might as well pass again. Pass protection has been good.

 

The run game has been so bad because of things like running a power back in zone reads and stretches.

But ALSO because the O-line isn't getting any push. (People want Maronne to take over hahahaha)

 

None of the issues with this team are getting fixed this season.

 

Everyone should sit back and just watch as it all goes down in a blaze of horror.

#31 in rushing TDs and #31 in rushing yards per game last two years combined in all of NFL. Again, you don't have a clue. The rushing offense and the defense are the same problems they were last year
