Gipson failed to make a couple of plays on a bum ankle.

Disappointing, but he's not a concern to me. Played very well on 95% of his snaps this season.

Gipson is a perfect FS for this defense. He's not going anywhere. The entire defense will be back except maybe Poz and Colvin.

The biggest issue with Gipson really is that he is often just a step too slow. Not sure if is his speed or taking just a tic too long to recognize the play. Upgrading him though would require a lot of money or Round 1 or 2 draft pick.

I think having a guy to develop taking over that role by 2019 or 2020 is the best strategy. Gipson salary at that point may limit keeping some other players and having a young guy to plug in by then would be ideal. That may be their plan with J. Wilson who was serviceable against Pittsburgh.

Gipson is barely above average. I don't expect a veteran to give up those kind of TDs, he looked like a rookie on both (vs Amendola and M.Bryant).

After all the hand wringing about flags, coaching, and 3rd and 18s...the play that keeps standing out to me is how easily Gipson could have pushed Amendola out of the end zone before he got both feet in bounds if he gave even a tiny bit of effort. Amendola's foot even taps Gipson's hand on the way down. A tiny push and that foot doesn't have a prayer of coming down in bounds. I still haven't gotten any sleep since the game ended and I've seen the networks play the game highlights dozens of times now, and that's the play that sticks in my craw more than any other.

Yep... Half [BLEEP] play. He just stood there looking. No attempt to push him out which would have been easy.
