For those without twitter here are a few of  Warren Sharpe's tweets regarding the Jags playcalling after being up 20-10 in the fourth.

"Every. Single. First. Down. Was. A. Run. From. Shotgun.  You think the Patriots didn't figure that out?  Look at the totals on those four 1st & 10 runs as the quarter progressed:

Every. Single. Second. Down. Was. A. Long. Pass. Downfield.  These are all 2nd and long situations with a 4Q lead.  Goals are either: bleed clock or set up 3rd and manageable.  Instead, look at the distance of these passes:
20 yds
20 yds
35 yds
17 yds

So now on 3rd and long, with a stopped clock, what do the Jaguars do?  100% pass, only 1 was complete. The punt following that pass was snapped w 6 seconds on play clock. The others were punted w stopped clock. No passes resulted in 1st down. *3 punts in 4Q with a lead*

The Jaguars had 6 snaps in the 4th quarter, with a moving clock & a lead (if you include the 1 punt). They NEVER ran the play clock to even 5 seconds, let alone inside 5 seconds. 4 of the 6 snaps were with 9-13 seconds on the play clock.

We've got it all here.  Poor situational awareness (clock management).  Highly predictable play calling.  Inferior play calling.  The Jags can say they were "playing to win" with the 2nd down deep shots on 100% of 2nd downs, but that is not how you "really" win in this situation."

Thanks for posting this. Maybe the cry babies who are blaming the refs will understand that the refs did not lose this game... the Jags lost it. Listen I get it, the holds... the whatever.... they didn't HELP... but they didn't LOSE the game. IMO we saw this style of coaching from Marrone all year. I don't believe it will change, but we are stuck with him. He is so bad with clock management its not even funny. Even worse before the 55 second kneel down around 2 min they rushed to punt the ball when it would of just hit the warning. Way to give BB and #12 another TO. They may of ran different plays had he not done that.

Biggest holes...

CB...Colvin at nickel is a FA, and I am not sold on Patmon or Myrick yet to step in full time.
OG...A team built for running needs a strong interior, and Omameh and Cann are upgradeable.
WR...Lee and Robinson are FAs, no others on roster are WR#1s.
TE...need a receiving threat from the position to increase weapons.
QB...Henne is a FA, need a challenger for Blake or a rookie to develop.
ILB...Poz is a FA, and team needs an early down backer to stop the run.

These Coordinators are perfectly capable of winning the Super Bowl.  Marrone needs to instill an always aggressive mentality instead of letting off the gas and trying the "coast to victory" approach.

I don't see how anyone can say coaching is a weakness when we went from 3-13 to within a play or two of the Super Bowl.   That's just crazy.  

I think we have numerous spots that could be upgraded, but I would definitely focus on pass catching TE and offensive line.

Just to be clear on my prior post regarding the coordinators:

 I'm not even saying they need to be replaced. I'm pointing out what they did wrong in several of our losses this season.  
(And I firmly believe the relenting from Hackett and the excessive zone by Wash at times are big problems.)
My ultimate hope is that Coughlin really earns his paycheck by getting in their ear about fixing this stuff and we can move forward with the same system - just using it more effectively.

I really like our coordinators so I'm not eager to replace any of them, although I agree there are a few areas where they tweak their game for the better.

The biggest hole IMHO is the RG spot with AJ Cann often being pushed around. The Panthers have a Pro Bowl caliber G hitting free agency who quite frankly would be my top target after re-signing ARob.

TE is another huge need especially with Marcedes so close to retirement, although I'm wondering if Mychal Rivera coming off IR might just fill this role.

Looking at the names out there at QB I feel our best bet is to just ride Blake for another season or two while trying to develop a guy through the draft. That said, if by chance we have the opportunity to take a shot at Drew Brees, I'd go for it. Just imagine this team with Brees at QB. We'd be the next dynasty.

Defensively we're rather solid all around, although we might want to start thinking about replacing Poz. Even if Poz plays next year we should have perhaps a young MLB learning the ropes behind him.

...I also noticed some fans were calling out our Punter, although I personally hadn't noticed him being all that bad.

Giving up gashing huge passing plays.

New England abandoned the run completely to expose our [BLEEP] zone defense.

its easy,letting the refs beat them. there were a couple games the team stoppped playing thier type of football cause they were afried to get calls on the. some they still won,some they lost. the browns game was one of them they won even with all the bad callls,the jets game was one they lost due to a bad cal team kindof quit. none was bigger then the AFCC though. you can't play scared like that,you have to overcome the refs as well 100% not 25 to 50%.

If there were a change to any one of those three factors, offensive play calling, defensive play calling, and the refs, it would have been enough to change the outcome. So yes, it's legitimate to claim the refs were the reason we lost. It's also legitimate to say the conservative play calling on offense and/or defense in the 4th quarter was the reason we lost.

Marrone can't do anything about the refs, but he needs to admit that he screwed up in the 4th quarter and make some changes in that philosophy.

My rage tends to rotate between the coaching a refs. Yes, our play calling was conservative. But on 2 of the 3rd downs on offense there was blatant DPI against the man covering Lewis, which would extend drives. Additionally, the 3rd and 18 on our defense there was some even more obvious holding on their OL but wasn't called. If the refs called the game even for both sides, all 3 of those penalties are easily called and we win.

But maybe if we are smarter with play calling we wouldn't have been in a position to have the refs influence the game so heavily on just 3 plays, so IDK. I just know I won't be watching the super bowl.

Run blocking up front.

QB that can make all the throws.

OC that will attack weaknesses relentlessly.

DC that will play aggressive from start to finish.

This. And hopefully the coaching staff will revisit all 19 games this off season and realize they need to open it up more on both sides of the football. As aggressive as they were on special teams at times last year I would love to see that ballsiness carry over everywhere else in the scheme.

As most said, we need a new offensive and defensive coordinator.  As good as our D was this year i dont give much credit to Wash.  We were so good because of the talent level, Wash had little to do with our success imo.  A hungry and aggressive coordinator that mixes up schemes and we could be scary.  We need an offensive coordinator that will go fo the kill when we get up and not play so conservative like he did many times this year

So after going from 3-13 to the AFC Championship Game in one season you want to fire both coordinators.   That makes no sense at all.

No offense to anyone here, but that's exactly why he's a fan not a gm lol.
