He actually throws the deep ball more than any QB in this class, from what I have seen, and hits on an insanely large amount of them. I don't know how much of that is him or the WR, I will leave that up to the pro scouts.

Here's a 45 yd TD pass (40 yards thru air)

Here about the 3:50 mark he puts one about 40 yards thru the air on a dime for the TD
and then goes on to convert the 2 pt conversion (twice)

in 2017 of his 3400+ yards more than 1700 of those yards came through the air. He doesn't come from a system that relies heavily on WR screens and short passing.

I'd guess in 2018 it's even more. Since it was a point of emphasis (from scouts) after 2017 that he needed to work on his deep ball.
Which I guess is where the fallacy of his "weak arm" comes from.

Anywho.... this is a Herbert thread, so OT: Not a fan, won't be mad if we "miss" out on Herbert.
I think he's the (over)hyped QB of this class (I wasn't very high on Allen or Darnold in this past class)

The critiques of Griers arm aren't a fallacy and they don't stem from any narrative about needing to work on the deep ball. It's an average at best arm that he gets the most out of with his quick release and smooth set up.

Herbert is staying put in Oregon. Glad he made that decision. It now takes him off the table and honestly it's the best decision that kid could have made for himself. I don't think he's ready for the NFL. Another year will allow him to work on his accuracy some more.

Haven't seen anything on Haskins. Grier would be a decent choice. And you may not have to drop a top ten pick on him to land him. May be able to go the Bengals / Raiders route where you take the top player on your board in RD1 and land a decent franchise QB in RD2 that could develop into a decent or above average franchise QB to help out the defense.

If Haskins is out of the running, that would be the way to go, without question. I might take aim at a DT like Christian Wilkins who could really improve our run defense or a FS like Deionte Thompson who could take the place of Gipson and free up some money. Both look like elite players IMO.

That or start looking at interior o linemen. I'm not up to date on who tops the list as far as o lineman but I would think that would be an area we should address pretty heavily.

Honestly, if we stay at #9 Jonah Williams is the only O-Linemen I'd give a top 10 grade to and he will probably be gone by pick #9. If we were able to trade down in round 1, that would be ideal. Then we could draft an OG/OT like Cody Ford of Oklahoma or Michael Deiter of Wisconsin, but I'd be surprised if either went in the top 15 selections.
