Flips playcalling is not the issue, the same issues of poor blocking, execution and lack of effort, and poor discipline by way of penalties stalling drives are to blame for the offense stalling today.

People forget how young the Jaguars are on offense, which leads to those issues. Nearly everyone out there is still on a rookie contract. Conley isn't but didn't get much playing before coming here. Linder and Norwell are only offensive vets and they have been inconsistent as well.

Plus, while Flip's forte has been utilizing formations with TE and RB, and the Jaguars have not had a decent TE stay healthy in like 10 years or something. It's becoming ridiculous.

This team needs a good TE to produce in this offense. Currently our TE's suck. O'Shaughnessy was looking good before his injury and Swaim has been knocked out with a concussion. What a difference a good TE makes in DeFillippo's offensive scheme. Oliver needs to be on the field, immediately or the rest of the season could be quite depressing.

It really was supposed to be a major facet of the offense and the cupboard is basically bare. 

I see another TE acquisition being made this week.

Philly's secondary got shredded again today. Maybe they're finally willing to deal for Ramsey and we can acquire either Ertz or Goedert as part of the deal. Is that realistic, or am I just dreaming?

I really don't know why anyone was surprised by the loss today. I felt earlier this week like some of you were seriously underrating how good the Saints are.

Minshew was bound to have a bad game at some point. Now we'll see how he deals with rebounding next week. I still think he's the key to the future. The Oline needs some SERIOUS upgrading though.

I still feel like Marrone and Wash need to be questioned about their ability to develop this team. They lack consistency on a consistent basis. You gotta wonder what they're doing to prepare these guys every week

I picked the saints to win 23-20, so not surprised. 

RE: coaching -  I think the missed tackles, run fits, and over-pursuit on defense are issues where blame has to be shared between coaches and players - and it's hurting us badly. 

On offense - the o-line development can probably be partly blamed on coaching.

The problem is the team has been flushing high picks on bad players for years. You only have so many picks each year and if you're constantly reaching for bad players because you can't evaluate talent and only what you think your team needs them you're never going to be good.

The problem is the team has been flushing high picks on bad players for years. You only have so many picks each year and if you're constantly reaching for bad players because you can't evaluate talent and only what you think your team needs them you're never going to be good.

I've always contended that every franchise has misses with high picks, even the ones with good front offices.

What makes good franchises are:
1. FO that can identify diamonds in the rough for at least 1 major position, if not 2. Too many positions on a team, can't use high draft picks for all of them.
2. Coaches that can develop younger players. Can't pay everyone, even the guys you draft/develop and who become fan favorites.
3. Play callers that don't require every player to win on nearly every play (as in McCarthy's Packers). They often can scheme some easy plays/situations.

Great franchises typically have the above and normally luck into a Hall of Fame QB.

The thing is, if Josh Allen hadn't fallen to us, we'd almost certainly would've drafted TE T.J. Hockenson. We couldn't turn down the best player in the draft, so unfortunately the TE position became an afterthought, once again and we waited until the 3rd round to address it with a guy who has yet to see the field. It's getting to the point where we almost have to make a trade for a TE, to salvage what is left of the season. With O'Shaughnessy gone for the season, Swaim concussed and Oliver still nursing a hamstring, the TE position is basically useless for us, considering who we have left.

The Eagles are desperate for cornerback help and happen to have a potential pro-bowl 2nd string tight end. I really believe they'd reluctantly part with him, especially after their secondary got torched again today. Add in next year's first rounder and a 2nd or 3rd rounder in 2021 and the deal is done.

Just noticed your post. You're not dreaming as far as Goedert is concerned. Ertz, on the other hand, is unlikely to go anywhere.

Wasn't surprised nor upset by today's loss. Last two years the Saints were Superbowl contenders and still are as of today.

We have a new challenge rule over P.I now in the NFL because they were a missed P.I call away from probably besting the Patriots in a Superbowl back in February.

The year before they got smoked by a bad defensive angle taken on a last second TD to Diggs.

They've lost to two of the better teams in the NFC this year in back to back weeks between a combined 14 points. They didn't get blown out. That's not that bad.

They just seem to beat themselves with bonehead penalties and miscues here and there. Ramsey not playing. Offensive line's inconsistency and the penalties. Fix that. And they'll be 4 - 4 by London.
