Jags have finally hit rock bottom! How has the draft helped this team?

I still think with better run defense we'll win more games Minshew played well and him improving with better D.
No Fun

John Dorsey or someone from the Ravens or Chiefs probably. I am a fan, not a cheerleader. Since he is better in zone and a better tackler and he is pretty decent in man coverage I would have to accept thre trade, lol. At least twice in our history we were bad enough to get the first pick, We lost a coin toss in 1995 to have the first pick in the draft, and lost a tiebreaker to the Chiefs in 2013 to get the first pick. It certainly does not mean we won't be bad enough in the future, including this year. Because we're the Jaguars, we will win 7 games next year and be out of the running for Fields or Lawrence. Which might be okay, Minshew's been pretty good. But people have REALLY been overselling his "SIX WINS!" The only team with a winning record we beat last year was the Titans (who were starting Mariota at the time). Not exactly impressive. We'll get to see how Minshew does this year. I don't think we'll end up drafting in the Top 5. If Minshew is the answer, that's probably fine. But if he isn't, then things are probably going to get worse before they get better. Lol what have the Jaguars done besides to make anyone outside of the fanbase pay attention to them? The last decade of Jaguars football was abysmal.
This season will undoubtably be a tough one with respect to wins and losses. It's hard to imagine a team with so many rookies along with a very inexperienced quarterback could be successful. I do believe, however, that this team has a good chance to be successful beginning in the 2021-22 season. I am admittedly very biased and tend to be optimistic about the team despite it's dreadful performance over the past decade and a half. The following current players will form the nucleus of the "new and improved" Jaguars:
Gardner Minshew- He can be very good and if he's not substitute the name Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields. D.J. Chark "Viska" Shenault- If he stays healthy, he'll become the 2nd most popular player on the team. Cam Robinson- Assuming he stays healthy, I haven't given up on him. He can become a top 10 left tackle. Josh Oliver- No tangible reason to include him, but I believe he will prove Caldwell right once he gets on the field. Ben Bartsh- Will become a very good guard in 2021. Dee Dee Westbrook- A very solid slot receiver. Will Richardson- Once he can focus on one position (guard), he will be above average. Josh Allen- Definite perennial pro-bowler. Chaisson- Will become a great outside linebacker in the 3-4 teaming with Allen. Joe Schobert- Should be very productive for another 3-4 years. Davon Hamilton- Will be starting nose tackle for a long-time. Myles Jack- Should show much improvement at more natural position. C.J. Henderson- Should develop into shut-down corner. Add to this nucleus a likely 3 first rounders next season (eventually we'll get a top pick for Ngakwoe from a desperate contending team that needs a pass rusher) as well as a couple other high picks (2nd and 3rd round) plus a couple of free agents at positions of need and the future CAN certainly be bright. Other positive factors are the salary cap situation will be much better now that they've gotten rid of Ramsey, Dareus, Bouye, Campbell, Lee, Foles and eventually Yannick and Fournette. In addition to this, the locker room distractions should be minimal and the team is now loaded with very high character players who also have talent. Certainly, not every player mentioned above will reach my lofty expectations, but I believe enough will to predict that the 2021-22 Jaguars will win the AFC South and the team will remain very strong for a minimum of another 3 years due to the youth of the overall roster. That's all for now as I need to leave for my appointment with my psychiatrist (I'm sure many of you believe I need one after reading this post)! |
