I think the Jags and Colts have the same problem.  Both teams need QB who are leaders and who can play. 

We spent a lot of money on Wrs this offseason and right now the results show they do not matter.  All this happened while we got a RB who looks explosive.  That tells me the QB is the problem and not a lack of a WR. 

Just look at TN.  Their WR room is horrible and are they going out to get one?  Nope they actually traded their alpha and made their D stronger.  Why? They have a QB. 

We have to stop fooling ourselves.  Keep drafting a QB until you get one.  This year we should be able to get a QB again.  I'd sell Lawrence now.

OR we spent a lot of money on WRs who do not matter instead of on some who would. 

The tacks have a QB? Seriously? No, they have a running back and a play caller who emphasizes him. Geez.

Yup tacks have such a good QB that they threw a grand total of 1 Pass in the entire 2nd half yesterday lolololol

This team has dug itself into such a hole, that this season is realistically over.  However, I find myself much more optimistic about the future compared to many on here.  I'm not trying to be a homer.  There has been plenty (most?) seasons over the last 15 where I saw little hope or felt that we needed major improvements and/or multiple seasons to be competitive.  That's no longer the case for me.  Below are some stats that stick out to me:

• The Jaguars have had the lead at some point in the fourth quarter in 6 out of 8 games.
  
• The Jaguars have either been tied or had the lead at some point in the fourth quarter in 7 out of 8 games.
  
• The Jaguars have had the lead at some point in the game in 8 out of 8 games.
  
• The Jaguars have not lost a single game by more than 1 score.
  
• The Jaguars through 8 games have a point differential of +14 which is the best in the AFC South and 10th best in the NFL.
  

This is radically different from the past when many of our games were all but over at half time.  Some will say "a loss is a loss", but I disagree.  The Vikings lost 8 of their 9 games last year by 1 score.  What happened this year?  They are 6-1.  While I'm not saying that the same will definitely happen to the Jaguars next year, I do think the Jaguars could easily turn many of those losses above into wins with one good off-season.  I think the team is much closer to being a winner than many think.

All the metrics say that this team should, at the minimum be a .500 team right now. Obviously we aren't because our record is 2-6, but they're better then the record says they are. They just continue to find the worst ways to beat themselves every week.

Burrow had pedestrian numbers yesterday until the game was essentially out of reach, a dominant #1 is extremely important to a QB.
Look at Rodgers' numbers compared to TLaw. For as much as we criticize our young QB, you think one of the best QB in the league should be putting up comparable numbers? Wonder why his passing is so average this season...

Our leading receiver is a TE, and it's not a Travis Kelce-type guy that dominates a defense. He's usually the third option on a play, and he's getting the throws because everyone else is unable to get free from defenders. Ain't no QB that would thrive in this environment.

TLaw is absolutely inconsistent. That does need to improve. But good gravy, the quit in this fanbase is real.

Yes, we should punt on first and goal, that would be unperdictable and certainly improve our chances of winning.

We are on track to win 4-5 games, and have been competitive in every loss.  All 1 score losses.  A lot of folks here, including myself, saw this as reasonable based on the last 4 years.  However, they messed up the expectations by blowing out 2 teams in a row, including a Chargers team that no one gave them much of a chance against.  So expectations were probably unrealistically reset.

Caldrac hit on something early on that I believe is significant.  We have drafted Favre 2.0, and we need to temper our expectations based on that.  The original model was a reckless gunslinger who didn't seem to think a lot about where he was throwing it early on, and just figured he could get any ball into any coverage, anytime.  He had to eventually be reeled in by various head coaches so that he could achieve his best level of success.  Lawrence, for good or bad, has some of this ingrained in him, and up to becoming a pro, has for the most part gotten away with it.  How much of these bad tendencies can coached out of him while still retaining the good will go a long way to determining if he's going to be what most people expected him to be.

I don't see TLaw as reckless as Favre. Although I do think he has the finger on the pulse of the team and the fanbase, and know everyone is tired of the legacy of disappointing losses, and tries too hard to get wins himself. He's at his best when he sits back and takes what he's given. He only tends to falter when the clock is against him or the field gets short. He's gotta calm the nerves.
