Paris Olympics Are a Catastrophic Financial Flop

The Paris Olympics is turning into a catastrophic financial flop (msn.com)
"In reality, the economic case for staging the Olympics has always been shaky. Even so, Paris is turning into a catastrophic financial flop, with tourists avoiding the city and travel slumping. It is about to kill the Olympic juggernaut stone dead..." We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Nothing new, has been that way for years. A site spend a lot of cash for excess facilities, security, supply chain and "promotional expenses" (read committee kickback graft etc) During the Olympics the host at best breaks even only to be left with very high maintenance costs on overbuilt facilities. Look back at past sites. The local economy cannot keep up and maintain the new stuff so they erode.
A new broom always sweeps clean.
Well said, J149. Was going to say the thread title was misleading, no need to mention Paris, the rest of the title still holds true.
I'll be in Paris late next month. Maybe i can get a good deal on all those surplus Olympic t shirts that will most likely be available.
