Dem states to blame for most of the nearly $400 million in unemployment fraud over last 4 years, DOGE says
California, New York and Massachusetts doled out more than $300M in improper unemployment payments over the last four years, according to DOGE

After finding $382 million in fraudulent unemployment payments since 2020, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) identified California, New York and Massachusetts as the primary culprits.

The three Democrat-led states accounted for $305 million in improper claim payments, DOGE said Thursday.

The group added that California also accounted for 68% of the benefits that were dispensed under former President Joe Biden to parolees identified by federal authorities as being on the government's terrorist watchlist, or who had criminal records.

Since the system was launched, over $700M in daily payments have been subject to payment justifications (ie “What is this?”) from recipients and agency leads.

Thanks to the great work by @HHSGov

processes ~$215B/year ($860M/business day) in grant payments. When those payments are made:
- If the grantee is directly drawing, no documentation, receipt, or explanation is required
- If the agency is approving, there is no justification or documentation required

Starting this week:
- Grantees who are drawing money must include a brief justification of what the money will be used for
- Agencies who are approving must include a brief justification of what the money will be used for and why they are approving

'Mississippi Musk': State auditor's MOGE report finds $400M in government waste
'I promise you, your state governments around the country are likely even less efficient' than federal government, state auditor tells Fox News Digital

On Monday, Mississippi state auditor Shad White will release a compilation of audits conducted by his office that tabulated a collective $400 million in waste over the course of his tenure.

"In the last few weeks, we’ve jokingly started calling ourselves MOGE, the Mississippi Office of Government Efficiency, like Elon Musk’s DOGE," White told Fox News Digital, referring to Musk's Department of Government Efficiency under the Trump administration.

"We approach our work with the same attention to every penny as DOGE, and I’m happy to be Mississippi’s Musk," White said.

While the auditor’s office cannot cut any of the wasteful spending, it alerts state lawmakers to what it discovers.

Foreign Aid Official Who Resisted DOGE Took Secret Payments After Steering Africa Money To Friend

A foreign aid official who refused the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) access to his agency’s financial records may have had a reason to keep auditors out: he steered illicit contracts to a friend who sent him secret payments, according to a law enforcement affidavit obtained by The Daily Wire.

Mathieu Zahui, chief financial officer of the African Development Foundation, refused to grant DOGE access to its books and told the White House that the agency would not acknowledge President Donald Trump’s appointee as chairman of the board. After a dramatic showdown in March, DOGE physically took over the building with U.S. Marshals, but control of the agency is now the subject of a lawsuit objecting to “swooping in with DOGE staff, demanding access to sensitive information systems” — an objection that reads differently in light of the criminal probe.

I can see a bit of their point. How do you codify not spending money on stupid stuff? It will be interesting to see how that is done.

Do you pass a law that dead people do not get SSI, SBA loans or financial assistance?
No Sesame street movies financed in other countries?

There are many laws on the books that would cover these if they had been enforced. Good companies call what is going on a reorganization. Every 3-5 years they do this to cut out the deadwood. People quit working for the company and begin "working the system" for personal gain. Get enough people doing this and the company fails. This has been needed in government for a log, long time. Actually, Clinton did this during his first term. Regan in his etc....  What is causing all the excitement is there are quite a few individuals that would like to see the United States fail.

Agencies often have more software licenses than employees, and the licenses are often idle (i.e. paid for, but not installed on any computer). These audits have been continuously run since first posted in February. Most recently:

-IRS had 3000 Visio licenses, using only 25. The remaining 99% were cut.
-DOL cut 68% of unused “project planning” software licenses.
-SEC was only using 22% of their remote desktop software; the 78% was cut.

These 3 changes alone, a small portion of the total, saved > $5M/year.

WASHINGTON— U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright today announced the termination of 24 awards issued by the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) totaling over $3.7 billion in taxpayer-funded financial assistance. After a thorough and individualized financial review of each award, DOE found that these projects failed to advance the energy needs of the American people, were not economically viable and would not generate a positive return on investment of taxpayer dollars.
Of the 24 awards cancelled, nearly 70% (16 of the 24 projects) were signed between Election Day and January 20th. The projects primarily include funding for carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) and decarbonization initiatives. By terminating these awards, DOE is generating an immediate $3.6 billion in savings for the American people.

There are currently 47 distinct financial management systems across the 24 CFO Act agencies, with instances of disparate systems occurring even intra-agency (e.g. Homeland Security has 6 separate systems, Treasury has 5, etc.)!
Sometimes, to transfer data between systems, paper is printed from one and manually entered into another.

A large consolidation effort has begun, which will lead to cost savings and operational simplicity. So far, 3 agencies have consolidated their procurement functionality, and so much more work to do.
