Tony Boselli named Executive Vice President of Football Operations

This is a fantastic move by Shahid Khan! Hall of Fame Left Tackle, and former #1 overall pick for the Jacksonville Jaguars will be your new EVP. Coach Cohen will report to Boselli, as they will bring in a new era for the Jaguars.

Boselli has been a great ambassador for the franchise ever since he retired from his playing days, and he has good relationships with personnel guys across the league.

It’s a great day in Jaguars franchise history. I’d rather have Boselli bringing in talent over Baalke any day.

Good luck Tony.

Like every hire, I'll wait to hold praise. Could be a great hire, could be just another #becausejaguars faceplant.

I don't want a cheerleader or a yes-man, I want someone who's going to hold those in authority accountable. Time will tell if TBo is the man for that job.

It’s exciting news. He can’t be worse than the past 2 years I don’t think. We will miss him on that show he did with Pete prisco.

I think the biggest question is what exactly he'll be doing on a day-to-day basis. I think he had some sort of hand in getting Coen back for a second interview/hiring. I'm sure he was consulted (along with Coen) on hiring a new GM. Then... I don't know what he'll do. Maybe translate the draft big board to Khan? Look over and report on the Oline coaching? The concern is the olé "Too Many Cooks" platitude.

Please, and thank you.

In a recent interview he said his role would be different than what Tom's was when he was EVP here.  He specifically said "I won't be coaching.  I won't be picking players."  It sounds like a cush "face of the front office" gig where he'll have to participate in some speaking engagements on behalf of the franchise and he'll be in on organizational meetings and be able to voice his opinion in that capacity and that's about it.  It's good work if you can get it.

I like that we have someone who knows the Coughlin way in the former Coughlin role with the team. Boselli knows the dog mentality and knows we lack a certain attitude up front that we need. We'll miss him on the radio, but things may go so poorly over the next few years that he'll be out of this gig and back on the radio and we'll have this whole fire everyone thing happen again.

Boselli will be good as our VP especially since he's had former Presidential and VP positions in previous endeavors...

Time Will Tell.

I've always thought this EVP role should be just, as someone mentioned above, the eyes and ears for Shad. It'll be interesting to see if that is how it plays out or if Boselli will actually be involved in football decisions. Personally I don't think the latter would be the best scenario. If Shad's "eyes and ears" is getting involved and disagreements arrive, Shad won't be able to get an impartial take of what is happening. He'll get Boselli's take which will be clouded by what he wants.
