You're contradicting yourself.
If we are actually punishing China for not playing fair, there is nothing to negotiate with them.
Also if we are actually punishing China for not playing fair, we would be publicly laying out the ways we think they're being unfair, and publicly lay out a path for them to correct those things and get their rate reduced.
This is just a very expensive round of bread and circuses.

No, you just have to keep changing positions, that's why you're confused about what the adults are saying.

The US was charging like 140% on Chinese goods, and China was retaliating by charging 120% on our stuff.
The new lowered rates are 30% and 10%, locking in the idea that we get to charge their goods 20% more than they charge our goods.
Not sure what the point is, but having a higher number than China seems to be our country's goal.

From my understanding the difference between the 30% and 10% is due to the VAT China charges, is that not correct?

The extra 20% is a fentanyl tariff. The last time Trump dealt with China they promised to stop. They did not. My GUESS is it will remain in place until it can be verified to his satisfaction they have.

Seems the EU now wants to make a deal. All it took was a suggestion of 50% tariff beginning in June and indicating the US will no longer pay a higher price than EU for drugs researched and developed in the US. Time will only tell if they are serious.

Courts are slow, but they do move:
www.axios.com/2025/05/28/trump-tariffs-trade-court-ruling

The emerging dynamic is a sort of gridlock. If Trump tries to order a new action, like a new tariff or an immigration enforcement, the courts have some power to stop him because the parties involved will see the court order and stop paying or stop working.
But if he orders a stop to something that the courts say should continue, like USAID or a college grant program, the court order has less effect.
If the courts and the President agree, action is possible.
If they disagree, only inaction is possible.

Well, this is headed to the Supreme Court before it will be valid. It will be resolved in the next 10 days. That is in this. Last time he used a different act to push tariffs like this. I can see him switching back to that if he needs to. He may not need to as the other countries know this and all of this was done to get them to the table.

In a side note the Big Beautiful bill has a clause limiting district courts. so once that is passed the district courts are "on the bench" and out of the game. Appears this ruling just got Trump more votes for the limiting of these judges. The authority of judges are controlled by the congress as they created them. Thank you !!

Trump tariffs face legal battle as federal appeals court temporarily blocks trade ruling
Court grants temporary stay of permanent injunctions blocking tariffs until at least June 9

A federal appeals court on Thursday allowed President Donald Trump’s tariffs to remain in effect for now, despite another court’s ruling just one day earlier that said the president overstepped his authority by imposing the tariffs.

In its decision, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit granted an immediate administrative state to the extent that permanent injunctions entered by the Court of International Trade on Wednesday are temporarily stayed until at least June 9.

After June 9, the court can issue an order of enforcement.

"The plaintiffs-appellees are directed to respond to the United States's motions for a stay no later than June 5, 2025," the decision read. "The United States may file a single, consolidated re-ply in support no later than June 9, 2025."

During liberation day everyone in the legacy media and every liberal with a PHD in their name forecasted doom and gloom, Dogs and cats living together, EMPTY SHELVES all around. What has occurred?
February inflation reduced. These sources said next month
March inflation continued down, These sources said April
April inflation continued down, anyone seen any empty shelves?

This reminds me of the 70's when
liberals claimed due to global warming Florida would be under water in 10 years.

They should get their money back they spent getting those degrees. As a point of reference I have a dock I built in 1969 with my dad. we raised it in 1995 12 inches. I am currently raising it another 12 inches as during the plus tides the water is level now.

As a resident of the coast I always chuckle a bit when I get new neighbors who turn out to be from "up North" and quite liberal. If you're worried about global warming why on Earth would you move to a beach town in Florida? Actions reflect Belief. Always.

Exactly. It's the same reason I refer to Dan Pena's takes on Global Warming. All of these multi billion dollar asset companies and groups would not be investing or building waterfront properties to rent out or sell if they believed in it. Actions do reflect belief.

New developments are placed above the expected flood elevation and developers operate on a 2 to 3 year payback window regardless.

I've been in Neptune Beach for 25 years and as far as I can tell, the water is still in the same place.  Frankly, it's been a little disappointing.  I was hoping to wake up one morning with ocean frontage!  Banana

LOL, The initial  "interactive map" had the entire State of Florida under water by 6-8 feet. Well there were a few islands of near Tallahassee. The issue the PHD's had were as simple as the CBO has. They did not include all the offsets in their calc's. I can only guess why such intelligent people ignore the offsets.

Whatever map you saw was not the one that FEMA and local building departments use.
A lot of bad things happen to Florida if Antarctic ice detaches or melts, but no one really knows if or when that will happen.
The sea level is rising like a centimeter per year though, and FEMA is accounting for that.

Pretty neat to see. My parents own a house here on Philips Highway that was built back in the 1940's. Back then there was maybe 206,000 people in Jacksonville. Where I live at on Kernan is also interesting. My house was built back in 1992. My grandfather and father worked construction back in the late 1970's and early 1980's and they did a lot of ground work in these pockets in East Arlington.

I remember when me and my wife bought our home in 2012. There wasn't really much to look at where Kernan Square is now. Kernan Square has developed quite a bit now between the apartment complex they threw up behind the Academy there and now you have that L.A Fitness that's been there a minute. I think we didn't have that Seven Eleven there yet. Now you have Racetrac, the Movie Theater, a Chic Fil A, Whataburger, a Chipotle, a Medical spot, etc.

Been fun to see it all grow but also it gets crowded. We live right near Landmark Middle School and the two elementary schools nearby our neighborhood. Think they're fixing to knock down more land right across from us to add more right next to the Church and one of those schools.

I just stopped listening to those foolish people a long time ago.. Much like the libtarded democrats, every decision they make is designed to hurt, destroy and eliminate our country..

I completely refuse to even listen to those pieces of [BLEEP] for the rest of my life..

They can all go die for all I care..
