Trade was balanced when Reagan left office. It was balanced with HW. It was balanced until Clinton implemented and enforced NAFTA (which HW did sign as well, so he deserves blame too, those darn Bushies).  Deficit spending is fine if you have the economic growth to back it up. It is literally how businesses work. It worked with Reagan, HW, and Slick Willy. It stopped working with GW, and exploded under Obama.

This was always part of the plan.  All of the major insurers are bailing on his signature legislation, and he's perfectly fine with that.

That is jacked up on so many levels. Just as democracy will never work in the Middle East, socialism will never work here. It is not what this country was built on and not what we should want. The damage the forcing of 'democracy' has done in the ME is indicative of the damage the forcing of socialism will be done here, just in a different way.

"Effective" tax rates for the wealthy have risen. The lowering of the top rate was more than offset by elimination of most of the deductions during the Reagan administration. Back in the '60s most rich people paid no income tax since their lifestyle was all tax deductible. You might want to look up the "three martini lunch."


 

There have been numerous regulations imposed by the government, some by congress but most by unelected bureaucrats, that have driven good jobs for semi-skilled workers overseas. Having one of the highest corporate taxes in the world has also driven corporate headquarters overseas (to those third world tax havens like Ireland and Canada), along with a lot of clerical jobs.


 

Importing cheap foreign labor hasn't helped either, and that's on both parties (i.e. government by elites).

I also like Obama, but there are alot of progressive campaign policies he ran on that he dropped for more conservative policies.
