Gil Brandt Predicts 15tds for ARob
|
I've been cautious the last few offseasons when I see predictions like this. It's exciting to see someone in the national media predicting big things for our squad but until our offense took that huge step last year most of those positive predictions fell short.
This time around I really think there is a good chance ARob can get to 15 tds if he stays healthy. Aside from a complete meltdown from the Oline and a pass rush like Denver had last year, I just don't see ARob's skill set as something a defense is really going to be able to stop. One thing that continually gets overlooked is that we should have a lot more possessions ending in redzone trips than punts and turnovers. So while we may run more in the redzone this year, that can be offset by increased number of trips.
The Jaguars were -10 and 4th worst in the league in turnover differential. Normalizing that and becoming a better short distance run team should be nice. I'm predicting 12 TDs.
Quote:I could actually see Hurns lead the league in TD's. Didn't he have a 7 game TD streak? That would surprise me. Robinson is simply a better redzone threat than Hurns with his size/athleticism combo. If there is a single wide redzone package, it's going to be Robinson on the field almost always.
Quote:Would be nice for him to get 15, but I feel like we will run more in the redzone this year. Plus I think Julius, if healthy all year will be utilized much more. I see 8-10 scores for Arob as more realistic. This ^^^
Would be nice for one of them to get 15, but that is very optimistic. I predict about 10 each with the projected division of the footballs

Success is a journey, not a destination. Go all out Mighty Jaguars.
That bar is too low. He's going to get 18 TD receptions this year and net 1500 yards through the air. In 2017 he's going to be a top 10 player in the NFL's top 100 player list. Dez still dropped it as well.....

I think that 15 TD for ARob would be a great thing for him... but I'm not so sure that it would bode so well for the team. In spite of our stated plan to run the ball more this season, I doubt that we will actually have that much succes doing so. I say this because while we now have some veteran muscle at the RB position, we still have not adequately addressed our needs on the offensive line. Without decent run blocking, our running game won't go very far very often and we'll be forced (as we were last season too often) to lean heavily on the passing game. By emphasizing one aspect of the offense, it tends to cause inflated statistics in that part being emphasized.
This is not to say ARob isn't very good... he obviously is; but part of his statistics came as a result of a poor running game, much in the same way that MJD's record setting season was, in part, due to a virtually non existent passing game. just sayin...
