What do you see in Grant besides speed?

 

 

In the NFL most all players are strong, fast, etc, etc so such traits are largely mitigated. It takes true elite speed to make a difference, and that's precisely what Grant brings to the table. Alvis Whitted couldn't catch a football if his life depended on it, and yet he remained on the roster for years due to his elite speed. Grant doesn't just run a fast 40, but in cleats when he's out there he's typically the fastest player on the field at any given time. Grant also has natural RB instincts and moves, along with decent hands from what I've seen, which combined with his speed suggests the potential for him to be the ultimate scat back.


 

DRob is a flash in the pan with questionable hands (he even fumbled a ball in the first day of the minicamp), and quite frankly I just don't see him making the roster this year...at least not over Grant. Maybe he can beat out Jonas Gray, but I'm doubting that as well.

For me it's honestly a split tie between the offensive lineman and defensive lineman. It all starts up front for me. If the front four can't get after the QB this year. We're going to be in trouble. If our lineman on offense can't keep the wolves at the door or create more generous running lanes we're going to be in trouble.

Yea thats the only thing concerning me right now is the oline... I just dont have faith in them yet.. Hopefully that changes..

Yeah Denard is looking down the barrel at this point.. His potential just hasnt panned out... Their is still a slim chance for him tho..

Defense by a big margin. Our offense, other than the offensive line, will not change that much other than Blake continuing to get better. It will be interesting to see if he can become a consensus top 7 quarterback by cutting down significantly on the turnovers. 

 

The defense, on the other hand, should be significantly improved in all areas. Jackson, Gipson, Marks and T. Smith have proven they have pro-bowl abilities. The thought of adding Ramsay, Jack and Fowler should have every Jaguar fan salivating. Whether these 3 guys reach their potential is just a guess on anybody's part, but I would not trade them (as a group) for any 3 defensive players on another team (that could be another thread). Add in the solid play of Miller, Poz and House and this defense will be fun to watch. Yes, it will take a while for these guys to jell as a unit but I expect them to steadily improve this year and become a top 3 defense next season.

I want to see both sides of the ball..

 

Offense: I want to see arob hurns bortles and oline mesh.. With yeldon and ivory.. Plus I want to see Lee go back to the 2012 Lee..

 

Defense: I want to see the dline destroy qbs.. I also want to see the secondary be elite especially gipson cyprien ramsey.. Plus fowler coming back and Myles jack playing alongside poz smith ext...

 

There's a lot of new faces.. Not just any faces.. faces that want to win..

I played QB but my father always said I should've played LB because of how much I love defense. That's what I want to see. A top10 defense.

A potent offense is the most exciting thing to watch in football.


It will be fun to watch the defense improve, but I much rather see the offense take the next step.

On Television, Fantasy Football, and Video Games, the offense is definitely the most exciting.


Attending the games, a stout defense that causes sacks/turnovers/points and is very tough for opponents to move the ball on gets the crowd and total stadium energy completely "fired up".


Maybe it's been too long for that feeling at the stadium with the defenses the Jags have had the past 6-7 years. People may have forgotten it.


A big-play, tough defense gets a stadium "Rocking"!


But again, that's just personal opinion according to different fans' tastes.

One of the most electric atmospheres ever at a Jaguars game was the 9-0 win over the Steelers.  Not much offense at all.  Defense for days.  The stadium was absolutely stoked.

The answer to your question depends upon how you measure "better."

 

If you want to know which, between the two units will be most improved, I would say clearly that would go to the defense, because it's easier to move up from 31- to say middle of the pack than it would be to move from 14-to top 10 or so.  This is especially true given the investment in the defense.

 

If you want to know which, between the two units has had the biggest infusion of talent from last year to this, again I'd have to say the defense.  I'd say the defensive offseason this year is a rough equivalent to the 2014 offseason was to the offense.

 

If you want to know which of the two units will be more effective and more reliable and more consistent?  That's a tougher call.  I think it's easier for a defense to come together than an offense...but the offense finally has continuity going for it.  I would give the edge to the offense in this area, but by this time next year, I think there will be a legitimate debate over which side of the ball will be the strength of this team.

I guess what i meant was reliable, and yeah i totally agree with you..I believe the offense will be betteras far as reliable, but i still have my doubts about the o-line... Outside of Parnell we basically have 4 new starters on the line.. Thats if Joeckel dont start..


I believe the defense will be better, but i remain optimistic about the pass rush.. We dont have know guy we "KNOW" gonna get us 10 sacks.. And thats a little concerning.. But i do

believe that guy is here dont know whom yet...

For me I miss the days the defense was actually feared. It was fun even if the result was a loss. The last few years of getting bullied has been frustrating as a fan. I'm hopeful for a big turn around to take some pressure off the offense.
