If we presume good health from Ramsey, I think Amukumara or Colvin-once her returns from suspension) could play FS at a pretty decent level for us.

I'm sure they could with reps at the position. But say if Gipson goes down week 6 I wouldn't expect either Ramsey or Prince to be able to step into that role week 7.


Peyton Thompson was moved permanently to FS and showed flashes last season at being at least competent to play FS but it hard to argue he would be able to play at a high level at the position like Gipson has in his career.

I have high hopes that Gipson will be the game changer that has been missing from this defense since Gus came aboard. My only concern is that if he goes down with injury we're going to be right back where we started at free saftey again.
