I'm expecting them to win that game. They are better than SD but the west coast thing is real. Whether you want to admit it or not.

 

Not saying it isn't real.  But good teams typically don't struggle against bad teams because of what coast they are on.  We can't blame the Jaguars struggles on the west coast on anything other than they just weren't good.  Or that the other team was, which has been the case in the past against San Diego.  San Diego hadn't been below 8-8 since 2003.  Last season they are 4-12.  There's a difference.  The west coast argument can only go so far.

Can you name one of those seasons where we had as much infusion of talent as this year? Essentially we have three first round draft picks coming on board and each one was considered a top five defensive prospect?


I can't remember any of our draft classes being ranked number one by almost everybody.


Then you add the free agents....


There's no excuse for not winning this year. The Jags have the most talent of any team in the division. Other teams may have more talent at certain positions...but no one has as much talent across the board.

Not to mention the expected big leap for Bortles and the Allens in year 3.

I disagree. Houston and Indy are two solid teams. The Texans have an elite defense and our pass blocking was not horrible last year. Bottles had time to throw. The run blocking wasn't very good and it's that reason that attributed to the amount of sacks. It was easy for the opposing D-lines to rush the passer when you are one dimensional. O-line should be improved this year and with a decent rushing attack it should cut down on those sack numbers.it's year four in this process. The time to win is now and it should be expected that jags make playoffs or bust.

Do as you will, but we've been playing in the weakest division in the NFL and Bortles has been getting sacked way too much. It's commendable that he hasn't gotten hurt... yet; ​plus you're using circular reasoning to explain why Bortles has been sacked so much. He's been sacked so much primarily due to poor blocking, not just poor run blocking but poor blocking overall. The left side of our o-line has been bad for years now!

 

I expect to see the emphasis of next seasons draft to be put on seriously upgrading our o-line. What we have right now is just 'stop gap' guys on the line. Linder doesn't and won't impress anyone until he can stay healthy all season. I've no reason to have anything but low expectations for Joeckel.

I was re-watching the game last year @ Tennessee.  Their TEs absolutely destroyed our LBs.  The pass rush was decent but Mariotta is mobile and did a good job of moving the pocket.  I think Poz is too much of a liability in coverage.  It's not just a 3rd down issue; if they plan on keeping Poz in on 1st and 2nd down, teams will hit the TE on 1st and 2nd down.  Jack may be starting at MLB in Game 1.

This is year 3 for bortles and nearly the entire roster is Caldwell guys. Telvin , Cyp , Arob , Hurns , etc are now experienced. This should be the year we take a final step forward and finally find ourselves in the 10-6 or better range. I guess 9-7 would be okay but honestly that should have been last year .

Not a Gus fan, but hes not playing the game... Its football at the end of the day... Im hoping that Gus learns to be that coach this year... He veteran coaches in Lane Kiffin and Marrone that can help him out as well.. Keyword still is hoping..
