Jaguars have best offense and defense in AFC south..

#21

I think we stack up pretty well on paper too.

Defensively, we've got the track record.

Offensively... I guess you've got a good year of production behind you.

But we're a pretty good team, both sides of the ball on paper.

I have little doubt the Jaguars have improved tremendously on both sides of the ball.

But in my mind, until we find a way to block your defense, until Bortles finds a way to not throw the ball to Hal so often, Houston remains the favorites.

It would seem that way with Bortles, Hurns, and ARob on offense, and our stacked defense, but you just never know.  I have high hopes, but until they start winning games, there is no point in making that kind of proclamation.  Bradley is still a big concern to me.  I believe we are finally "built," but Bradley has to prove his worth this year.  He has run out of excuses.  I, and many others thought so last year, as well.

Draft is one thing, if the players are not utilized correctly or the right schemes not played then good players mean squat. Plus lots of rookies, rookies are notorious for messing up.

Not according to the weekend clowns on 1010xl. Someone asked them where we would finish and they said third in division.

You have a valid argument about the best offense.  The best defense?  Houston still has that title until we can take it away from them.  Maybe this will be the year, I hope so.

I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

How are they clowns? We haven't won anything in a loooooong time.

They're better but they need to show it on the field.

Ad long as the Jags can run the ball, yes, we will have the best offense in the division.

Defensively, we are closer to the Texans, but they are still the team to beat.

Jeez.

How long has it been since we've been able to claim the best anything in the division?

2007-2008? In 2011, we had a really good defense... but Gabbert.

Too soon man. A healthy Luck with an adequate pass protection can be a top flight NFL offense. People forget that Luck had the clots in play off contention every year up until his injury riddled 2015 campaign. The tinhorns could be competitive on offense this year if Osweiler pans out. And the tacks have a promising offense as well under Mariota provided Mularkey doesn't attempt to run these guys back into the stone age of NFL offenses.

Defensively. LIsten, I am just as excited as the next fan. On paper, we look like a different animal now. But you still have to let them play, and they still have to survive TC and Pre-season football action. And they also have to learn the NFL speed in a new NFL defense with a new DC. It's just too soon for me man.

But, with that said. The NFL seems to think we're worthy of being listed right in the middle of the pack on the power rankings since the draft occured. Las Vegas still thinks we're garbage though.

Offense?  Probably.  Depends on if our O-line improves, and what Andrew Luck brings to the table in Indy, and how Osweiller pans out, as well as what Mariota can do.

Defense?  No.  Texans by far.  Maybe in a year or two we could be up there.  Or if we get really lucky and Jack, Ramsey, Day, Fowler, Holmes, and Ngakoue turn out the way we hope they will, I guess we could be.  But it might take a while for some of them to adjust to the NFL and develop.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Quote:Definitely best offense.. JJ watt is the best defensive player in NFL.. But jags have best overall defense in AFC south..

J.J. Watt has been the best defensive player IMO for two years straight (hands down)...

That being said if you look at the Jaguars roster overall on both sides of the ball I would think (based on rookie potential - as we arent really sure yet how well they will actually do) I think in the AFC South Jaguars are the best on both...  (that also counts on all the players being 100% healthy which has been a big factor as to why they've struggled the last few years).
