2nd Round Safeties

#21

I voted other, as I don't want a safety with the second round pick.

On offense the team really needs a Center, and then getting a LT would be nice too (Beachum's health for depth maybe a project guy in later rounds).

On Defense the team has the most needs.  As GM Dave Caldwell had said that this draft would mainly be Defensive players drafted by Jacksonville Jaguars.

I assume that pick number 5 will be the best player available that fits a defensive need;

(maybe in this order) DB Jalen Ramsey, LE Joey Bosa, DL Buckner, CB Vernon Hargreaves III, LB/SS Myles Jack

unless they trade down and then the needs really are CB, Edge Rushing DE (really almost a tie with CB in need), MILB, SOLB, Safety

I think if you look at the pool of players we have at safety and then compare it with the depth at other positions like linebacker and cornerback, its clear where the biggest need is.

Unless there is a truly amazing safety available, it would seem a waste of a pick.

Does anyone know if Sergio Brown is any good at Strong Safety?  Why not let him try to compete with Cyprien & Sample at the role?

With the release of Brandon Meriweather and James Sanders during the offseason, Brown became the starting Strong Safety for the season opener. In his first game he recorded 6 tackles. Brown recorded his first career interception against the Chargers in the second game of the season

I get the feeling that Sergio Brown isn't good at really anything football related.
