Adam Schefter: "Chris Ivory is expected to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars".

Honestly it's tough to think of a better RB for this role. I know he's not the greatest bell cow RB, but I love this signing. I've always enjoyed watching Ivory get his yards. Heck, I'd have been satisfied with Bilal Powell for this role, but Ivory is a way better.

Good one Dave.

It's all about how the bonus money is structured.  He's turning 28 this year.  This isn't the cure, this is the bandaid.

Is this a done deal yet?

He doesn't need to be a cure. That's what Yeldon's around for. Ivory's a rotational back.

You guys don't think we could have drafted an RB though. I don't know. I hope he does well but he was the 3Rd worst short yardage back in the league last year. I don't like the idea of free agent rbs

Quote: The following was written last summer.   In essence,  it reflects part of the reason why I believe Chris Ivory won't be one of the Jaguars best options in the passing game.   Despite this,  Ivory could easily prove to be a major asset for the Jaguars because of his differential power running skills:

  http://nyjetsfans.com/?latestnews=should...ed-in-2015

Pass protection: When comparing Ivory to the rest of the Jets backfield his pass blocking seems to fall short where running backs Bilal Powell and Zac Stacy excel at picking up the blitz. According to Pro Football Focus Chris Ivory was ranked 61 out of 62 running backs in pass blocking efficiency. In a spread offense where Ivory would often be the 6th pass protector his inability to consistently stop the edge rush from linebackers makes him a liability when he is on the field. You can make a case for taking Ivory off of the field in passing situations.
Gah.  Good find.  Much appreciated.

BORTLES ISN'T A FRANCHISE QB. FOURNETTE WILL BE A BUST.

He's not here to be a short-yardage runner. That's Alualu's job. Tongue

Boom.

Top needs!

A real free safety a ball hawk... check
....Tashaun Gipson signed, led the AFC in interceptions for two years in a row (2013,2014)

An elite Cornerback... not checked
maybe #5 in the draft

A real pass rush, .... kind of a check.
... DL Malik Johnson helped Denver win the latest Super Bowl!

Improve the Oline especially at LT... not checked

Establish a reliable run game.....  Check
....This years  ProBowl and rushing leader RB Chris Ivory

I guess they are hoping that Fowler Jr will be ready to give a great pass rush at Leo, and maybe they sign someone in the 2nd or 3rd round to add depth & challenge for leo...

Ivory was not a great short yardage runner last year, but note the Jets offense was run 1st and 2nd and then pass over heavy 8 man fronts with mismatches on the WR's.

Jags are a pass first offense, so not as likely for Ivory to face as many 8 man boxes if Bortles can keep other teams honest.
