Well then Clady and Marks have nothing to do with each other.

No matter what anyone else says, I will never understand why people think just because a player was on injured reserve twice in three years he is no good anymore before he comes back from the second one. I also cannot see any reason to believe he should play on a prove-it contract while most other players who suffered the same injury don't take even the smallest pay cuts. You guys need to get reality glasses.

Ya see how getting Tony Boselli worked out so well for the Texans

Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17
2016 draft players I think will be good
  • On the Fournette train, will be best back of his class 3/6/17
  • Lattimore please,  Lockdowns on both sides would be nice
  • Engram at TE and the MJD clone Samaje Perine

Tony Boselli was not cut when he tore his ACL. I am talking about players who had the same injury Ryan Clady is dealing with now.

I'm just trying to show the risk of signing an aging player dealing with injuries.  Especially one who has played well enough in his past to justify a large contract.

The only thing Clady has to prove and i'm not sure he will is that he can avoid injuries.  I don't give a player big money with the NFL equivalent of a bad carfax report

I don't get your Carfax report analogy. The problem for us is a player who has proven his worth for a large contract while playing for a perennial playoff team his entire career would not be willing to sign a cheap prove-it contract elsewhere. I would expect Ryan Clady to be an upgrade over Luke Joeckel if that unlikely event were to happen no matter how he performs with a repaired knee ligament.

Quote:Serious question: Would you ask Sen'Derrick Marks to take a pay cut because he played in only three games last year due to injuries? Common sense says no, you wouldn't.
Yes, actually, I would. I'd ask him to reduce his base salary and put that money into incentive form so he can earn it back. If he balked, I'd draft his replacement and wish a man who's missed most of the last two seasons the best of luck finding a team willing to pay him what I was.

No, you need to take your orange-colored glasses off, MissBroncosFanatic.

I am not wearing orange glasses. The post you replied to does not even have the word Broncos.

Wasn't Aaron Kampman hurt his last year at GB? And then we signed him only to have him play like 8 games in two years? Also wasn't it ACL? Some players just don't rebound well from injury.

But all of your posts have that coloring.

If Clady wasn't a Bronco, you wouldn't even be in this thread.

Carfax is a tool people use to tell if a cars history has a variety of issues.

I was saying Clady has the NFL equivalent of a bad carfax... meaning his body has suffered a lot of injuries lately the kind that tend to linger in players over 30 years old.

like carfax telling me I shouldn't pay full price for a car that has issues mechanically I don't want to pay full price for a player who has shown to have some body mechanical issues.

Ryan Clady suffered two injuries in the last three years. I know sometimes injuries cause mechanical issues for the rest of a player's career, but did not see it happen to Clady two seasons ago. Time will tell if the ACL tear has a negative effect on his performance next season.
