Rogue factory robot blamed for death of human colleague

A rogue robot has been blamed for the death of a woman killed in an accident at an auto-parts factory in Michigan.

I see Flex-N-Gate is one of the companies being sued for wrongful death. This happened almost 2 years ago.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

Meh... an automated machine is only going to do what it is programmed to do.  I'm certainly sure that there is more to the story.  I feel bad for the woman, but most likely it was a mistake on somebody's part.  Developers can use something like this to implement better safety/programming.

I tried dirty talking and was shut down by them. Doesn't bode well for the future.

Robots scare the crap out of me. I saw a story on the Science channel where scientists are actually working on implanting human brain cells into the hard drives of robots to give them a conscious and think for themselves ala A.I.. Why? We are playing with fire and it will be the downfall of humanity.

"implanting human brain cells into the hard drives of robots" would likely kill both the brain cells and the harddrive.

I'm just saying what they reported on the Science Channel and they claimed to be very close.

I haven't seen what you are referring to, but i'm sure they've done some kind of experiment having to do with brain cells, but probably not exactly as you described it.  Biology is exponentially more advanced than computers, so it would make sense to experiment on that.  But there isn't a single biological computer at this point that could do much of anything.  And I mean anything.

I can tell you they are nowhere close to creating a self-sufficient robot capable of doing much of anything that resembles the actual complexity of a human being.

But yea, it's going to eventually happen.
