Chip Kelly fired by Eagles - merged

Quote:How does one argue with this? Really.

The only viable argument.
Kelly came out of college and took a professional team was relatively talented and destroyed them. bradely basicly took a college team, which stung a little in the beginning and has them competing on the profession level. the record doesnt show the hot start kelly got off to, and the major tail spin that team is in now. our arrow is pointing up, phily's is dropping faster by the week.

Quote:Not really. It can be reasonably argued Kelly's system is not a good fit for the NFL.

One specific fallout from Chip Kelly's system that I especially don't like on the NFL level is his Defense is on the field way too long as a result.  This takes its toll in games and over the course of a season.

Quote:How does Gus have a job when chip gets fired..

Gus does not have total control of personnel. He is just a coach. Chip Kelly also tried to make a college scheme work by getting rid of key players and replacing them with backup quality guys. The Eagles got worse because of Kelly.

Quote:You don't think that blowing up the locker room and basically destroying morale didn't have something to do with the utter collapse?

They still had sproles as the scat back, and they miss utilized Murray.

The changes in personnel were not as drastic as the collapse.

Clearly the coach had an adverse affect on that locker room.

Coaching matters.

Certainly matters.

But my 2¢ is that Kelly the GM was horrible AND Kelly the coach wasn't great.

He had players originally perfect for his system - didn't win. That's coaching.

He brought in guys that other coaches had success with and then he didn't use them correctly. That's coaching as well.

So I think the people saying him as a GM ruined him as a coach, I disagree.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Every coach this side of Chuck Pagano has at least some say in personnel, even if they don't have the final say.

Among the things DeMarco Murray told owner Jeffrey Lurie weeks ago was that he had no confidence in Chip Kelly as head coach, I'm told.

Screw Murray. Guys a narcissistic you know what
