Teams Who Dissappointed Most In 2015?
|
It is relatively easy to define a successful season for most schools at years end. What may be a little more difficult though is picking out who disappointed the most.
What are the five schools, in your opinion, had the most disappointing 2015 seasons? Here are my five; 1. South Carolina - The schools best coach in it's history retired mid season and things only got worse from there for them. 2. Auburn - Startted the year ranked #6 in the country and had what appeared to be a quarterback ready to bust out in Jeremy Johnson. Luckily, for them, I guess....Still got bowl eigible. 3. Georgia Tech - Another team that started the season in the top 25. After last season I thought GT was ready to take their run a little deeper. I thought they'd win their half of the conference and represent the ACC in the playoffs. But no, they had a terrible season. 4. Arizona State - Like Auburn, they at least got bowl eligible, but they had a rough go of it. Throttled early in the year by Texas A&M and USC when most thought those would be some marquee wins for them. They were a trendy type pick pre-season to get into the playoffs. That was wiped clear early though. 5. UCF - Coming off a 9-4 season, and quite a few good prior to that, the Knights went winless (only one of two), and O'Leary retired/resigned late in the year.

I would add Georgia to that list. I thought Georgia was going to have a pretty good year and they just sank again towards the end of the year. The Gator Bowl selling Penn State/Georgia is funny to me. Two big name teams, but neither is very good.
I would add Ohio State to the list. Literally played two relatively tough games all year long and they couldn't beat a team with their back up quarterback when the team almost refused to throw the ball against them. They bounced back against Michigan, but that lost to MSU was embarrassing.
Florida State
but only because BigJohn stated that FSU was going to be in the Playoff this year back in the season prediction thread

For me major disappointments were on the scoreboards - close wins that were supposed to be blowouts - and the fact that playing against backup quarterbacks did not help much against Michigan State.
