Mark Richt, Head Coach, UGA dismissed

#21

Good hire.

Donna Shalala (UM President) is more focused on making UM the next Duke and shaking the thug image that their football team carries. UM is moving up in the ranks in academic standings so Mark Richt should help to build a good team that does it with the integrity that Shalala desires.

Quote:This! Coach Richt is a heck of a good guy and a decent coach, but every year the Dawgs lost Big game after Big game. He just couldn't get them to the next level.

I wish him well in Miami.

While I agree, it seems like we could say that about most every coach that has built a top team. Even if you win A big game, it's not The big game if you lose 2 weeks later -- the game you lose ultimately becomes The Big Game.

Quote:Richt made a dumb move starting his 3rd string QB, they had 0 QB play.

Dumb is an understatement. How about totally idiotic?

She's not the president anymore.

"No mystery remains for what the Bulldogs can, and can’t, accomplish with Richt in charge.

Georgia has played seven football seasons since 2008. That’s a healthy abstract from which definitive conclusions can be drawn. Looking at those seasons, it’s clear they fit into a tight and predictable pattern: win eight or 10 games, lose a game to an inferior team, get blown out once, probably lose to Florida, almost certainly beat Georgia Tech, fail to win any type of championship and end the season in a second-tier bowl.

Bulldog fans now have to ask themselves if that is good enough."

I get that sentiment, I really do. But before you send a guy who has averaged ten wins a season packing, you better be certain that you have someone better than him lined up. Maybe Smart is that guy, but there's a whole lot worse coaches out there than Richt.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

You are 100% correct, there certainly are. There are also very few coaches out there who are better PEOPLE than CMR, but it was time to make a change to see if Georgia can get to the next level. I wish him nothing but the best and thank him for everything he did at UGA but it was time to move on.

I did not think she was. Were they fired on the same day?
