Question about upsets

#1

If #9 beats #3 out of 125 schools..... is that really an upset?

Not really, it's just sweet sweet justice.

It is if #9 was playing without their starting QB and it's on the road.

Although in hindsight you could argue it's not an upset because Mich St is clearly better.

The backup quarterbacks were not killing Ohio State's defense. It was MSU's defense killing Ohio State's offense.

MSU is the better team with Connor Cook, but offensively, not that impressive with the other guys throwing footballs.

If #9 defeating #3 is not an upset, what about #10 defeating #6? (Baylor beat Oklahoma State last night.)

The reaction by the OSU players to that loss shows how embarrassing it was for them to lose to that team.  That back up qb (I don't even remember his name) settled in nicely and made some good plays with his feet to win it for MSU.

Ohio state sucks.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

I can't say that is unusual. Embarrassment definitely played into the decision to switch quarterbacks.

But that is beside the point. I want to know what their defense could do if they had to worry about Connor Cook.
