2011- 15.2 points per game

2012- 15.9 points per game

2013- 15.4 points per game

2014- 15.6 points per game

I tried to explain this to people who are nitpicking Bortles INT's. Jags have taken a HUGE step forward offensively this year. However, they continue to get worse defensively. Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Joe Nameth.....NO ONE is winning with this defense.

 

Gus Bradley has proven that he doesn't know what he's doing defensively. When you look at playoff teams, check out their defensive points per game they give up. Jags are FAR AWAY from even thinking about contending until they get a defense.

There has never been an NFL team to make the playoffs in history that's given up 27-30 points per game. That's what Gus Bradley has done the past 40 games.

The offense is improved, but i wouldn't say fixed is the right word.  They still have a good bit of room to improve.

 

Bortles still gets too much pressure, the run blocking could be much better and the turnovers have to be managed.

The passing game is clearly fixed. A QB who is going to throw 35 TDs with two 1,000 yard WRs. The reason we are ranked low offensively is the running game.

only 2 offenses in the league are averaging more points per game than what our defense gives up (NE and Arizona)

The two 1,000 yard seasons speak more to the ability of the Allens than it does Blake, and the lack of production forces a lot of volume out of the passing game. Improved is right, but 'fixed' is a stretch.

This has happened before. Marvin Lewis when he became the bengals coach had a horrific defense and a good offense (Carson Palmer) just didn't have the defensive talent. I'm sure more times it's happened when the specialty of the coach didn't match the results but this is the one I recall because it created a bit of a stir at the time. He's doing pretty well now tho

Dude,, I like Bortles. Hes good. He's obviously gonna be a mainstay for the Jags. But to act like he does absolutely nothing wrong, and it's all something else, is a complete falsehood. He still has alot of improvement to make.


The offense is improving as the season goes on. But, there has been numerous times where it seems they just can't do anything. They go through long stretches of MAYBE scratching out a FG or 2 (that's if they don't throw an INT, or fumble).

Bortles Def has his issues too.
