This is a strawman argument. How good or bad Marrone is as an OL coach (and I don't think the OL is as bad as some are making it out to be) is not a concern in regards to firing Gus. Marrone has a solid record as an NFL head coach, that's what matters, not his record as an OL coach or how well hid did mowing lawns as a teenager. Gus has a proven record of failure. Marrone is the logical in-season replacement for Gus, although Olson is another option.

One might look at it as a great job of planning ahead by Marrone. Heaven knows our current head coach can't plan ahead. It's taken him six weeks just to notice that the Jags can't get pressure from just the front 4.

Joeckel getting overpowered isn't the main issue with the line. It's blown assignments and mental errors. These guys don't know who should be blocking who on too many plays.

 

That is so funny, because all of the OTA/Mini-Camp hype was about how Joeckel has been "Really Training" & "Adding Muscle",

but still playing like "The Gerber Baby".

Yeah, it's a head scratcher for sure.  Nothing has improved with the offensive line under Marrone's guidance, so we should go ahead and promote him.  Typical logic from the message board GM sect.

The line has definitely improved in pass protection and I can't see any way anyone could be convinced otherwise. Run blocking hasn't improved nearly enough if at all and they need to get Beadles out of there ASAP because run blocking in this style of offense is heavily reliant on power, which he sorely lacks. I feel like they may have already made the switch if Cann was still the primary backup and Linder was starting, but they must not feel Shatley is ready to go with his hand still in a club.

 

If you look at the entirety of the line Joeckel looks better than last season, Beadles stinks, Wiz is solid, Cann is two starts into his rookie season and Linder looked great at RG before him, and Parnell is a major upgrade at RT. You cannot with a straight face say that nothing has improved.
