Ole Miss-Florida Game Thread

Quote:i find it funny and ridiculous that people in the national media are like, "wow the Gators defense is legit" as if it wasn't already good before this game.

If you're just a casual fan, why does it bother you so much?

Shocking. Even going back to tge second half of the tennessee game i am shocked how bought in the team has been. They played with a ton of passion and when the d is disciplined they can play with anyone.

The challenge will be dealing with success. Ole miss read a few too many press clippings. From his post game conference i think macelwain is a little suprised. Now they go on the road with expectations to win the sec east and some will be picking them to win the sec period. They cant relax.

Florida's defense is designed to play someone like Ole Miss.  A team that spreads it out and throws the ball.  Gators are fast and have great cover corners.

Will be interesting to see how they do against LSU's and UGA's power running game.  Both LSU and UGA have a dumpster fire at the QB position so the Gators may be able to sell out against the run.  But the Gators' strength on defense, which is their secondary, will be irrelevant for the most part.

You are right, but against the run, the front seven is pretty good. The UT game was horrible tackling, players in position, but a ton of missed tackles. LSU will be a good test coming up shortly though.

Gators are 24th in the nation in run defense. They are definitely above average. Have they faced someone like Fournette? Obviously not, but I think with UGA/LSU's lack of QB, they can focus on clearly shutting down the run game and despite Fournette having back-to-back-to-back 200+ yard games, he hasn't faced a defensive front like UF.

This game is going to be much better than anyone thought. It's going to come down to how much more can Will Grier develop from now til then, can his receivers continue to play lights out and make great catches (when they previously all sucked) and trying to get the run game going (LSU 14th against the run) as opposed to the one sided LSU rushing attack of Fournette and QB's / WR's that nobody can name without going to espn.com.
